I know it has mechanical disc brakes and weaker battery. But I can get used to riding again and build it up as I want. It has either 15ah or 13ah depending on which ad I see. I know about the things that I'll need to do & I'm fine with it. I can't find any bikes that offer what Q20 does for price. For just a little more money I will be able to equip it as I see fit.

Does this sound like a good idea? Or is there a bike in that $800 range I've never heard of?

I got it, and it is a good bike. But like you said the battery is weird... I didnt however know that before hand so youre a step ahead of me. but from what I can tell. and i am a noob knowing nothing really but it LOOKS sturdy, frame wise. and if you dont go above setting 3/5 the battery is ok-ish.

nice packaging, sturdy, and easy to assemble
