Building a E22 bike.

I’m putting my parts list together for a e22/M620 build. The bike will have mixed road and woodland use. Nothing extreme.

I’m really struggling with the drivetrain. From what I’ve read a big chainring and 9 speed is the way to go. Any recommendations would be welcome.

Thanks

Gearing choices depend a lot on installed power, your own power output, the resistances you're likely to encounter (hills, headwinds, soft surfaces), how much of the work to overcome them you want to do yourself, and how fast you want to go — especially downhill.

Lots of complicated trade-offs here, even on an ebike. The chainring discussion here might help.

There's so many variables that you are going to need to decide this for the most part on your own.
The 9 speed is probably the most popular due to giving you a wide range and better reliability than the thinner 10s and above chains.
As for the front chain ring you might be better off starting in the middle and then moving from there
As an example when researching my BBS02B build everyone was suggesting 42t or smaller but after a little trial usage I ended up at 46t working well for me.
On the rear most seem happiest with a 11-34t, but I ended up with a 14-32t....and I'd probably go 30t next time around.
I know it's not fun to buy parts that end up on the bench... but that's the price of admission when building a custom fitted bike... especially your first.
In the end, all well worth it.

Been busy with work but back on this now.

Seen a couple of alternate frames that are in the U.K. so no expensive shipping, tax and duty.

I know very little about frame geometry so would appreciate opinions on these.

Thanks

You posted two different frames.Which one are you going with?

They are 2 frames that are available in the U.K. I can’t find much info on either of them so will probably go with a Dengfu e22 from China.

The Ansbern frame is good value at £750 with no shipping or taxes. I could only find one video on YouTube and no one has one on the forums which seems strange.

This is my parts list.

Open to better suggestions.
