Brake light wiring

So I got a new Cheetah ebike and it has a nice headlight. The factory rear rack comes with a disconnected AA powered tail light. I want a tail light / brake light. I bought a 3 wire light...running light & brake light. Can anyone help me with a wiring diagram. I get the power & ground, I just can't figure out how to connect the brake light into the brake lever switch.

Any ideas ?

Welcome to the forum Chip.

You can use one of these on each brake lever so that the light comes on when you pull on ether one.

Unfortunately , I'm not an electrical engineer but, I am a tinkerer. The brake levers have a motor cut switch built in so that when you actuate the brakes, the motor stops driving. That's where I'll get the signal for the brake light. The negative connection is easy. The running light will be wired into the head light and head light switch.

The motor inhibitors can just be a magnetic switch that opens a low voltage signal to the controller. That won’t turn on a light unless you use some kind of relay. You want to run the light from your main battery. Is it rated for 48v?

The Cheetah is 48v. It has an existing headlight & switch that I can wire into for the tail light power. The brake light switching will need to be figured out using the existing lever switch, relay etc.
The light I have is rated for 12 to 60v.
