hi , first time post , my issue is my Bosch motor goes into limp mode ie from mtb to tour up very steep hills ! Any advice appreciated , cheers ant

the display changes or it just feels like it? either way never heard of this one you need to take the bike in and have it checked out.

What bike? What motor? What controller? What battery? How old? How far into a ride? IOW, details...

2 year old cube hard tail , purion display , Bosch cx line , 500 battery , motors under 1500 miles , can be any time into a ride , it only happens when it’s really steep , cheers anthony

Pointing to the battery, especially if you're in sport or turbo going up the hill, trying to max speed. In theory, one could do a load test on the battery, looking for a drop in voltage at higher amperage draws. In practice, Bosch doesn't give us consumers the info or the tools to do so. They might provide LBS with battery testers, but I doubt it.
One other thing to consider is motor overheating. First, I'd check the bottom of the motor housing to make sure nothing is blocking the bottom. I believe the motors vent there. Next, I'd feel the motor housing after cutout to see how hot it is. Again, though Bosch doesn't give us consumers any info on motor temps or thermal protection. A LBS may or may not have more info, and might be able to read an error code. IDK

Appreciate your responses ,whilst out on a 30 miler today I noticed the error 503 on the purion today so I watched a YouTube video advising that the magnet on the spoke needed moving . So I moved the magnet , but this was after I’d changed to my spare battery so in reality it could be either . But I’m pretty convinced it’s the magnet , the bike performed faultlessly even up the steepest of hills . Thanks again

you want the magnet centered on the groove on the sensor sometime they are towards the back sometimes towards the front.

Did you have a 503 error from the beginning? If you did, it would have been very helpful to know at the beginning.

Limp mode is exactly what you get with 503 (magnet position error). Has happened to me. Reason you get limp mode is bc the default is to assume that we’re tampering to fool the system into thinking we are at a lower speed.

Good to know , thanks
Just glad it was a simple fix 🤟

in all honesty when I’m struggling to get up a hill the last place I’m looking at is the display . I’m pretty it stems from having a new back wheel fitted a few months ago , the “ mechanic “ forgot to put the magnet onto the new wheel but did it before I left with the bike ( even though he said he’d test ridden ) 🤔 🤥 I remember seeing error multiple times but never really noticed the numbers above but on reflection I’m sure it was 503

OK, but little details like the 503 error would have saved a lot of speculative advice from us! And gotten you back on the road much more quickly. Details matter, especially error codes, in diagnosing problems.

Ok really sorry to have people speculating ! I will in future endeavour to do diligent research into my findings before I ask for any advice again . Thanks again for all the helpful advice 🤟

Too bad you miss the whole point. It's not about research. It's about giving others all the facts. Don't worry though, any more of your sarcastic responses and I'll just block you. No sense in wasting time trying to help ingrates.
Good day and good luck to you.
