We are in our mid 50's, live in Tennessee and not finding many bikes to demo. Want decent quality, lightweight, to travel with, that can perform well onhas hills, hybrid type. Have tested Raleigh Detour, Izip Path, Fuji Traverse. Liked the Traverse but want a more upright style. Heard the Breezer Greenway is similar, but it has Shamano motor and battery compared to Fuji's Bosch. Any comments, opinions would be appreciated.

Hi - I'm mid fifties too, I've got a bosch powered Lapierre full suspension mountain bike (FC900 overvolt) which I changed somewhat with raised bars (I put bmx bars on) and a serfas super comfy seat. The high bars did a perfect job of eliminating back and neck aggravation and pain, and the seat, well there seemed no point in sitting on the standard seat, which felt like a 2" pipe - in fact I purchased two serfas e-gel seats one womens version for my wife's e-bike and I got the mens - both very good but when I rode my wife's bike I was surprised to find its width providing even better support - so now I have a womens seat on mine too. haha. Regards the weight - don't all the ebikes amount to being rather heavy with some slightly heavier than that. Those with removable batteries at least provides for some relief from their weight in transit. [edit - bosch system is awesome - I've done probably 5000km's with no problems]

further to my previous post A pic to show mods - which I just happened to post in best pic thread - but it won't win that lol ..but it does show the mods -

I have a Bosch system bike as well, and no issues. I'd have no hesitation getting a bike with a Shimano motor though (Especially the new E8000), or even the Yamaha or Brose for that matter. Keep your options open when shopping around.

There are a lot of different motors between the Bosch and Shimano, with differing power outputs. Decide on how much torque you want, then be sure you are comparing similar motors. Ie Bosch Performance CX to Shimano E8000.

I would choose the Bosch motor for it's long company experience and reputation for durability. Regarding the riding position, it is very easy to change it into a more upright position.

The handle bar has to be the cruiser type and not the MTB type.

You also need to change to adjustable stem or short stem.

Not sure if you’re dealing with @Chandlee EBS at Electric Bike Specialists, but I’m sure that they can adjust the bike to whatever ride position you’d like. They have a really nice shop and they know Ebikes so you can be sure you’re in good hands.
