Bosch Error 680

Anyone got any idea what an Error 680 is on a Bosch Purion display? I can't find that error code anywhere or how to correct it. Thanks in advance

Attached is the most complete list of current Bosch error codes. 680 does not appear on it so it must be related to some relatively new additions to the system

Handy list, except there is no 680 listed. Jan1of1, are you sure it's not 580 or 880?

Here is a copy of the latest Bosch Purion Manual date 03/2020 Error 680 is not included there either. I think the wise course it to get the bike in to your dealer and have them run the diagnostic software.

That is one of the downsides of owning an ebike - sometimes the closest dealer is 75+ miles away. It would be nice if Bosch would allow us to update our software and run diagnostics online. I can do that for my TV - I should be able to do it for my bike.

There are a number of parameters that have their limits set by the bike manufacturer rather than Bosch. It gets more complicated when a device is an assembly of major components, from different manufacturers, some of which are the responsibility of the component maker rather the the final product assembler.

What brand of bike is this Bosch system on? Is there any shop that services Bosch closer to where you live? If it an issue that falls under Bosch's control, perhaps they could do the diagnostic for you and at least get the process rolling. You might be able to avoid the longer drive back and forth...twice when you drop it off for diagnosis and then again when the fix is done.

It is Pegasus Premio Cross Wave. Nearest Pegasus dealer is 64 miles away. Other bike dealers that sell ebikes, but not Pegasus, are closer. Most of these are reluctant to service a bike they don't sell, especially if it is under warranty. If Bosch would give owners access to the software we could do simple tasks such as: SW upgrades and determining fault codes, fixing faults, and resetting the codes. Imagine you are doing a tour away from a metro area that has a number of ebike dealers and you get a fault code on your bike. What can you do? Get a rental car and drive it to an ebike dealer (hopefully one that sells ebikes with your motor)? Wouldn't be nice if you could simply plug your computer into a USB port on a PC, hook into the Bosch network and find out what the fault code is all about and what you can do to reset it!

T'would be nice, indeed. That is one thing about warranties though. Many manufacturers will void a warranty if the consumer even opens up the case. Heck Apple will void your entire computer warranty if you open it up and install more ram or a larger hard drive.

Isn't the way Bosch does business common knowledge? I knew about it when I bought my Bosch powered eBikes from a shop 200 miles away. I haven't had to take them back in 4 1/2 years, so non issue so far!

Yup they make better stuff and charge for it.

I have ten year old Bosch rechargeable power tools that have been rode hard and put away wet and they still not only work but do so nearly, if not as well, as they did when new...they look old though.

We had a Bosch dishwasher on our boat, doing dishes 3 times daily for 9-14 people and it was a rock solid reliable work horse.

I've also trusted them for decades as the maker of most electrical components in our cars.

I have yet to regret buying anything made by Bosch, even when it costs more than the competition.

Sorry for the delay in providing an update. Yes it was an Error 680. It took the dealer almost two hours to solve the mystery... So the bike is a Pegasus Premio Cross Wave with an internal battery. Well the Pegasus cover when placed over the battery was putting pressure on the battery's reset button (misalignment of screws) so the reset button was partially being pushed in when the cover was put on. And that what was causing the Error 680. Good news - battery wasn't damaged nor was the display. And kudos the dealer who said to bring it in without a reservation and who spent a couple hours doing some fine detective work and solving the problem!
