I have a Boardman HYB 8.9e and I have had the same problem as many others on this and other threads, namely the motor cutting out intermittently, particularly when going up hills. Sometimes the motor cuts out altogether and won't restart. Very often the red light on the controller comes on which means a poor connection between the battery/motor pack and the bottom bracket. Cleaning all the contacts with switch cleaner and a cotton bud inside and outside the battery pack and the bottom bracket can sometimes cure it for a few dozen miles but then it comes back again. In my opinion, the system is just very badly designed. Inside the bottom bracket you have a wobbly contact with about six tiny contacts in it and when going over bumps this is bound to jiggle it around and wear it. I have given up on it now. It is too unreliable and I am buying a Cube bike. I've only had the Boardman with the Fazua motor for 2 1/2 years, the last 12 months of which the bike has given me this problem constantly. It only had a one year warranty from Halfords. I feel really rather let down. I'm a great fan of Chris Boardman, but why on earth did he allow his name to be used for this?
