Blix packa

I am looking to buy the blix packa. I am 300 lbs hence the bike to help get healthy. Does anyone know if the packa can handle that weight from the rider?

I'm 315 and have ridden something with similar power. I've also ridden a MUCH more powerfull direct drive (1500w) version of that bike. In the hills and accelerating from a stop I found the 750 watt completely gutless, and the much bigger one only slightly better. I'm amazed by the fact bikes like this are sold with direct drive hubs. If you look into the differences between a DIRECT DRIVE rear hub (like the Packa has) and GEAR DRIVEN rear hubs, I think you'll agree the direct drives here make no sense.

RAD has a very similar bike they sold for years with this same type drive (direct drive).

I bring this up because recently, they completely updated the bike, to include eliminating the direct drive in favor of a gear driven system. This makes way more sense as they now have a motor that matches this bike's mission much more closely. A gear drive will have much sportier performance, much better get away from a stop, plenty of power to cross a busy road, good hill climbing, etc.

My point is, though it may sound like I'm trying to sell a RAD, that's not it at all. I have an issue with direct drive rear hubs due to their gutless performance levels. Especially when considering my (our) weight, I find the gear drives light years better. -Al

I know the Packa holds up to 400 lbs of weight which is extremely impressive. I'm a member of the Blix Owners Group on Facebook and someone shared that they own the Vika folding bike (which is a smaller frame), weighs 275 lbs and not does have any issues riding. So my guess is that yes, the Packa should be able to support your weight. You can read their post here too https://www.facebook.com/groups/420781435198984/

Greetings Reddwlf,

I've just joined this forum and noticed your post. I would imagine that you've made a decision by now, but if you haven't, know that the Packa suits my needs with my wife riding piggyback on mostly the Bike Trails [and some neighborhood streets] here in San Antonio.

Our trails are advertised as having a maximum of 5% grade changes. I typically ride alone using PAS level 1 or 2. With my wife onboard [our combined weight over 300 lbs.] I tend to use PAS levels 1-3 with an occasional need to bump it up to 4 to climb hilly streets or our driveway, which is a15 degrees climb for ~80 ft. then flattens out.

I fabricated a platform to attach a stadium chair for my wife - complete with arm rests. At 5'1", she's still too intimidated by its weight to ride her own Packa, so I've ordered an E-Trike on Friday to get her exercising and will post her Packa for sale. IMHO, the Packa is not for the rider with no recent riding experience or a riding novice. We're both 70+ and it's probably been 60 years since she has ridden a bike.

We've also purchased a rack for the Packa from Hollywood Racks that we plan to use on our motorhome instead of towing a motor vehicle for site seeing and local grocery store errands. It won't handle the E-Trike, so we'll just carry the one Packa on it.

Happy Trails!!

Norm
