Blew a fuse on my ebike battery

Here is a battery fuse story and perhaps a tale of caution. I was busy doing stuff on my ebike and decided that I needed to remove my 48 V battery. In some strange twist of thinking I picked out the dust plug on the battery and took out my keys and, thinking I was unlocking, stuck the key in the charge port. Zap. blew a fuse the small 5 amp one. had me worried for a while but I just went and bought a pack and replaced. Interestingly there was some arcing and debris in the fuseway so I had to sharpen the prongs on the fuse to get it to start in the receptacle.

Interesting... I'm glad you were alright @hughresearch! I've heard of ebike battery fires, and I personally have been shocked by some electronics before (never ebikes specifically). Sounds like you found a solution and are off to ride some more! Good stuff :D

I'm glad then that the keys on my batteries are on the opposide side away from the charger port. However, I have poked the charger plug into the recessed screw holes on my batteries. Doggome bifocals.
