Bike rarely turns on — diagnosing help

Hi all,

My girlfriend is having an issue with her bike where it won’t power on. But if you fiddle with the battery enough (taking it out and putting it back in) it’ll eventually power on. Even then it often powers off in the middle of a ride.

We checked all the connections as best as we could and it seems fine. We got the battery tested and it tested fine.

Could this be a controller issue?

The bike is a Genze e102.

Try contact cleaner on the the battery connector first.

Suggest you buy a $12 meter and learn how to use it. Then you don't have to get the battery tested in the future.

Might be a bad connector between the battery and the controller. Art's tip is great idea.

An ebike tech would take it apart, and check the battery connector for corrosion and look at the wires from there to the controller. Get it powered up and shake the wires from the display, etc.

Thanks y'all. Miscommunicated with my gf and she actually took it in this morning.

They're saying the controller needs replaced. They're also saying the pedal assist is damaged and they don't have parts for it, but that's odd since the pedal assist has been working just fine (as long as you can get the bike on). I'm gonna go in and talk to them, but nice to have some second opinions. I assume if it was just the connectors that would be easy to notice.
