As owner of a gen 2 and gen 4 speed motor, what you get is more torque, better acceleration, less weight, better protection against water incursion, slightly better range and far less resistance when the motor cuts out or when you pedal without it. Plus with the added 30% more torque the performance puts an even bigger grin on your face. It is up to you to decide if these things are work the extra $$$. Gen 2 motors are super durable and quieter.

Looks like the Gen 4 is about 60 lbs. I couldn't find the weight of the Gen 2. Also, the Purion display seems very minimalistic and small. Does it make sense to upgrade display?

I am seriously considering a full suspension Bulls. For my first foray into a quality bike, should I get the Iconic w Gen 4 or can I save grand and get the Gen 2? What do I get for the extra $1000?

As much as I would love to ride a R and M, I think the Bulls would be a nice upgrade from my other 2 ebikes. (XP and Sport)

Also, is more maintenance required with the Bulls compared to my other 2 ebikes?

I don't know what the drivetrain is on the XP and Sport, but are you asking about mid drive vs hub motor? The vast majority will tell you a mid drive requires more. Most of those are only repeating what they've read. It's really how you ride and how you do your weekly service. I have 4,600 miles now on a Bosch mid drive and have only replaced the chain at 2,500 miles. Original cassette, chainring, and brake pads.

The old Nyon was not available in North America. The new one will be . Purion is good for mountain bikes as it is small but also hard to see and operate.

Take a look at the next-gen screens that have color-coded power levels for easy comprehension.

The Yamaha PW-X display is a good example of an intuitive design that provides info at a glance.

I find the display nice as a reference, but sure not a necessity for constant viewing while riding. The feel of the bike tells you all you need to know, except for range. The number one advantage of a Bosch Intuvia display in my opinion. A good percentage of my rides revolve around the estimated range left and what PAS level I choose to get home.

I'm doubtful there will be good sales this year and if we are locked down in Toronto again it'll be pointless as they will never let us go free again. Hospitals were not stressed, the surge never materialized, but they kept the lockdowns once they had achieved that amount of control. Cherry trees were cordoned off in case you wanted to sniff a blossom.

saying that hospitals were not stressed is a disservice to all of our healthcare workers. My nephrologist contracted Covid and although he recovered he is now is unable to work full shifts. The surge was real and unlike our teachers healthcare workers continued going to work even though work was not totally safe. Covid is real and is impacting the lives of survivors. Statistically Toronto, Peel and Ottawa are hot spots. Tell your woes to a WWII veteran who made huge sacrifices for your freedom. End of rant.

Hospitals were at over 100% capacity BEFORE covid. They were NOT stressed BY covid. People were stressed, workers were exposed, but hospitals were not stressed as to the pandemic and the large numbers predicted.

The sooner you buy your ebike the sooner you can enjoy it! You'll ride more than just commuting. Explore the neighborhood, run to the grocery store and just go for a ride for fresh air and to reset the brain. I ordered mine and waited 2 months for inventory to replenish. No regrets at all. Heck, I'm gonna go for a pointless ride later today!

It's appropriate to say, but it's wrong in context. The big deal was about hospital capacity and why we had to shelter in place - the reason why we had to lock down.
Remember now?
That is what I was talking about. Lock down. To flatten the curve.
No big surge.
Before the distraction it was about being locked down continually and what that means for my autumn plan on making any purchases.
