Bearing maintenance

This is mainly to the ebikers that have ridden 1000+ miles. I am a e bike newbie and I was wondering when you do major bearing maintenance(BB, wheels ,and head set). Are e bikes harder on the hardware? These e bike are the best thing ever. I have a Magnum Ui6. Thanks:)

I don't see any bearing issues. Over 2,100 miles each on 2 different Haibikes and no issues. Even over 1,700 on a Sondors and no bearing issues. On the Sondors I did have to loosen the front axle and pedals because they used loose bearings and they were way too tight. Also the Sondors were pretty dry, so added grease on the first adjustment and nothing needed since then.

It depends on how often you ride, under what conditions, and the quality of the components. If you commute in all weather and the components have poor shielding of the bearings, it may need to be done every six months. Most BB's though, these days they are sealed bearing units that you just run until they fail.
