Battle of the singlespeeds: Enki Cycles Miller, Desiknio Urban or Ampler Curt?

They must be good motors for sure. Are you currently using that motor on your ride?
No. But for no good reason. Perfect 2WD motors. They tolerate over voting and are very reliable. Tons of threads on endless_sphere going back a dozen years regarding their reliability and performance.

I am ready to place my order, however, the only thing holding me back is the 20 kmh speed limit... only 12.5 mph!
Does anyone make a speed limit hack for the Bafang mid-drive? I have the BadAssBox on all of my other rides. ;)

Looks like it was a typo that they've fixed on both their website and kickstarter. 25km/h:

I've read somewhere you can hack the cadence sensor to remove the limit pretty easy with a magnet.

Just found the EBR summary of the Desiknio... 20 mph limit/Single Speed.

Summary

  • A sleek, quiet, incredibly lightweight, single speed electric bike, made in three frame sizes and four colors with hydraulic disc brakes, very limited quantity
  • Smooth welds, internally routed cabling, completely hidden battery pack, and compact hub motor make this e-bike super stealthy, it blends in
  • High attention to detail, the motor cable is tucked in and well protected, all of the components match in black, the rims and tires are upgraded
  • Super responsive 20 magnet cadence sensor, reliable belt drive, minimalist control interface but there's a smartphone app, smaller battery and motor, battery is not removable for separate charging
It's interesting that the Enky has torque and cadence sensing and the Desiknio has cadence but no torque sensing. Does anyone know which is better on bikes like this?

The 20mph sounds amzing! But with a Single Speed with that gearing, won't you spin out before it reaches that top speed? Or at the very least, you would be pedelling at 90-100 rpm - which isn't so relaxing!

Thanks for the corrected 25km/h specs. I also found a speed box for Bafang mid drives... 50km/h maximum :)

Thanks bob. I'm very happy with my decision. Thanks for the confidence.
Teebund my bad. FlatSix911 has just stated that the equipped Bafang motor only has a limit of 12.5mph!?! That seems like you are not getting the full potential of the motor at that speed. I would feel like I was at crawling speed at that. If that is the case, I regretfully would have to abstain my vote for this bike. It really surprises me that Bafang would make a motor that is geared/setup to be so slow IMO. I just don't get it (if in fact these specs are accurate). Sorry dude!

Edit: Even at the corrected 25kph, I still struggle with this speed. I would need a minimum of 20mph from this motor. But that is just me. Good Luck!

On their kickstarter page they have just released another version with the higher spec M600 and have removed the speed restriction! Apparently that beast has 120Nm of torque and with the 3sp IGH you should be able to achieve insane speeds!!

Is this crazy or what?? Does that mean 40mph would be achievable in the top gear?

Thanks for the update! That is crazy, but that is exactly what I would be looking for if this is an option. Now this is looking warm and fuzzy to me again! :p

That speedbox is 138EUROS and now Enke have released their unrestricted version for an extra $150USD. That M600 I'm seriously considering it!

Oh yeah, that is a no brainer for only $150US for all that extra power. My understanding is the Bafang can really put out speed and Nm of torque! I think the M600 is @ 120Nm of torque. I have a Yamaha at 80Nm and it is crazy fast off the line. Hello FUN!

I just changed my pledge to the M600 version. BOOM!!! 💥
