Battery now fully charged

I fully charged my battery a few nights ago intending to ride the next day, but work and weather prevented that. Now I am headed out of town for a couple of weeks and it is my understanding that you should not store a battery with a full charge on it. Am I overly concerned about a small issue, or should I find some way to partially discharge the battery and if so how should that be done? Thanks in advance for your help.

It would be best to keep the battery at 50-60% charge.
Once in a while, if you leave them at 100%, that's ok but regularly doing it, will certainly degrade the chemistry.
Instead of sounding like I am just quoting my opinion, I am attaching an article that talks about this.

But 100% charging isn’t a big deal in small doses. If you are planning a long trip and will be heading out shortly after you finish charging, a 100% charge will have very little impact on your battery’s lifespan. However, if you will be leaving your battery unused for many days or weeks, a charge level of between 30-60% is much healthier for the batteries over the long-term.

Since you're going out for couple of weeks,
this is what I would do. Leave the lights on overnight ( 6V,1A light would consume about 6 Watts in an hour and overnight would mean 6 watts x 8 hours = 48 whrs, that should bring a 500whr battery to 450ish whrs or to 90%)

if you can't do that. Just take a quick ride around the block at full throttle and use about 5-10%.

If you are a kind of rider who only rides 1000 miles a year, none of this matters.
But, if you are someone who is doing 5000+ miles, then taking care of your battery would mean 1-2 years of extra life.
