Battery maintenance question

I have a magnum Ui6 bike. I live in Toronto, Canada. Is it okay to keep the battery on my bike and only remove it to charge it or to storage it during the off-season? Or ... should I be taking it off after every use to store inside? I find it difficult to put the battery in (I seem to have a spatial/depth problem and can never put the battery in at the right angle and need my husband to put the battery in for me each time - I know, sad ...) I've been taking the battery in after every ride but would prefer to keep it on my bike, if possible, so that I can take my bike out easily anytime I want, even if my husband is away. Is this okay or will it affect the battery life? Thanks

I'd recommend bringing it indoors once the temperature of the storage space drops below 12-15 Celsius for more than a night.

Lithium batteries prefer a moderate temperature.

There's other more detailed posts about battery maintenance in these forums, and tons of technical info about battery chemistry out there, but I think the above is a good basic rule of thumb.

If you ride the bike in 0C you'll see the range drop a LOT, and it's not really great for the battery. You can make a wrap to help retain heat when riding. I've got a 3-layer wrap for mine when riding in the winter (USB-battery heating blanket, wrapped in an aerogel sheet, wrapped in neoprene).

I'm not familiar with your model but I can charge my battery while it's on the bike if I choose.

I live in Mississauga right next door to Toronto and I would recommend indoor charging and storage over the winter. Keeping it on the bike from April to November should be no problem, in fact charging the battery in a cool environment is an advantage.

I dunno... October has been pretty chilly for the last couple of years... too cold on Hallowe'en for good outdoor parties unless you're dressed as a character from The Thing... which gives me an idea... :)
