Battery life on a Bosch CX system bike.

I have been riding my new Cube Touring Hybrid Exc 500 with a Bosch CX 500 watt battery, for a little over a month now. I added the Nyon display/navigation module ten days ago.

The Nyon is recording a whole bunch of very useful and interesting information. Below is a screen shot showing yesterday's ride (heavy rains today so I rode in the gym).

On a 14 mile ride over varied terrain with between 500 and 1,000 feet elevation loss and gain with an average speed around 16 miles per hour, bike weight of 60lbs, 210 pound rider, I use 30% of the battery power. I rode without charging for four days to make sure and went 43.5 miles mostly in eMTB mode, perhaps 30% in Turbo. I still had 10% left in the battery.

I am really pleased with these results and find the Nyon super useful in regards to trip planning, power management and health monitoring.

I am curious if anyone else with Bosch equipment has been doing these metrics. If so please do share as it would be useful to all concerned to share notes on this.

Our silly EU regs where you can choose either 25 or 45km/h don’t really help that much with saving energy. I would have bought the 20mph (32km/h) option if that had been available.

Yeah the regulations here are completely mental, which is why I find that, typically, I cycle at 30kph or thereabouts: too fast for a 25kph limited bike (which goes to about 27kph tops) and far too slow for a 45 s-pedelec. Also I find speeds of 40kph or more a bit unsafe: I ride in a virtually upright position, and gusts of wind really blow me off course, even at lower speeds. Doesn't feel that safe, to be honest.
