Thanks for that- hoping the vendor understands the mix-up!!This will get your riding in the shirt term. I guess you need the big plug version, but you won't find anything shorter.
E-Bike Motor Extension Cable Waterproof 9 Pin 250W - 1kW Julet 60cm 2ft, 130cm | eBay
Up for sale are e-bike motor extension cords with Julet construction. These cords are tough, durable, and waterproof. Length: 60cm (2ft). Type: Motor extension cable. Waterproof: Yes.www.ebay.com
If you cannot find a long term fix from the vendor, you can cut the extension and controller cable and join them somewhere where you have some cable protection. THe best place to splice is inside the controller, Then you don't have to do all the re-insulation/wrapping and strain relief.
Yes I carefully marked parts, took pics etc of how every part was situated (I’ve also removed the rear wheel twice to replace a worn tire and then switch from the maxxis high rollers to shwalbe moto x street tires- none of this was unfamiliar) I’ve sent them a dozen pictures including one with a ruler showing clearly the original cable that is 10.5 inches long from where it exits the axle- it’s so obvious it’s almost funny if it hadn’t cost me close to $275 and still have no fix,Perplexed!!!I wonder... when you installed the motor, did you orient the motor so the cutout in the axle was facing forward, so the cable can bed forward much more easily? That will change the distance the motor cable can travel forward. Lots of people don't realize this for what it is and face it backwards.
Also, if you are talking to Sondors support, show them the issue in a photo from the axle forward so they can see the slot orientation (and that its forward) and you holding it forward as far as it'll go. Indicate the controller cable is in exactly the same spot as it was and there is no more slack to be had.
If the motor cable lengths have changed, the only practical solution may be the extension linked above. Thats a very uncommon item and I wouldn't expect Sondors to have any of them.
Well sounds like you covered the bases. I have one of these motors sitting on a shelf in my garage as a spare for one of my daily drivers. I want to measure the cable and see what it is. I bought it on the open market so its absolutely generic.Yes I carefully marked parts, took pics etc of how every part was situated (I’ve also removed the rear wheel twice to replace a worn tire and then switch from the maxxis high rollers to shwalbe moto x street tires- none of this was unfamiliar) I’ve sent them a dozen pictures including one with a ruler showing clearly the original cable that is 10.5 inches long from where it exits the axle- it’s so obvious it’s almost funny if it hadn’t cost me close to $275 and still have no fix,Perplexed!!!
You may need to send the motor back period and get it exchanged - if they can. Looks like someone needs to go out into the warehouse and look at the motors. If you use an extension you will end up with a plug sticking out as that cable mount is perfectly placed to interfere with even using a zip tie to secure it.Regarding down time, it still may be faster to replace that clutch. Then just tell Sonders you're sending the motor back.....
If they ever return my calls or emails I’ll have a better indication- and your right the frame tabs are in the way + I bought this bike partially because it didn’t have zip ties and other cobbled together aesthetics like my home built one!! I’ve received a dozen emails reminding me how many bikes they have in stock and that I better buy one soon!!!!! Some tarnish is beginning to build on how I feel about this brand- hopefully some actual customer service will suddenly appear and make me a fan again-You may need to send the motor back period and get it exchanged - if they can.
