I think you might find ordering something more easily sourced, and just coiling the unused section somewhere, will get the job done quickly for you.

That's assuming you've traced the controller side already without finding any slack available - near the controller for instance?

There is no slack- I’ve already purchased this replacement motor, installed it and then realized- the connection is about 3.5 inches shorter than the failed motor- I found a picture of their fold xs model with the same 750 bafang motor,it shows a much shorter cable/ I’m sure this one was mislabeled as “mxs” instead of “xs” and that would explain the impossible connection length- so far they are basically insisting I’ve installed it wrong and are asking me to attempt to make it work by re-routing the cable from the controller- which is impossible(no slack) and ridiculous- pretty frustrating,I hope they realize it’s their mistake - this is my transportation!

This will get your riding in the shirt term. I guess you need the big plug version, but you won't find anything shorter.

If you cannot find a long term fix from the vendor, you can cut the extension and controller cable and join them somewhere where you have some cable protection. THe best place to splice is inside the controller, Then you don't have to do all the re-insulation/wrapping and strain relief.

Thanks for that- hoping the vendor understands the mix-up!!

I wonder... when you installed the motor, did you orient the motor so the cutout in the axle was facing forward, so the cable can bed forward much more easily? That will change the distance the motor cable can travel forward. Lots of people don't realize this for what it is and face it backwards.

Also, if you are talking to Sondors support, show them the issue in a photo from the axle forward so they can see the slot orientation (and that its forward) and you holding it forward as far as it'll go. Indicate the controller cable is in exactly the same spot as it was and there is no more slack to be had.

If the motor cable lengths have changed, the only practical solution may be the extension linked above. Thats a very uncommon item and I wouldn't expect Sondors to have any of them.

Yes I carefully marked parts, took pics etc of how every part was situated (I’ve also removed the rear wheel twice to replace a worn tire and then switch from the maxxis high rollers to shwalbe moto x street tires- none of this was unfamiliar) I’ve sent them a dozen pictures including one with a ruler showing clearly the original cable that is 10.5 inches long from where it exits the axle- it’s so obvious it’s almost funny if it hadn’t cost me close to $275 and still have no fix,Perplexed!!!

Well sounds like you covered the bases. I have one of these motors sitting on a shelf in my garage as a spare for one of my daily drivers. I want to measure the cable and see what it is. I bought it on the open market so its absolutely generic.

Check it out - the new installed motor cable is 3+ inches shorter! Installed identically to the original it doesn’t even reach the frame tabs that would hold the cable! Yow!

That motor plug won't even reach to the cable guide on the frame. This motor came from Sondors as a replacment?

Yep! I needed this fixed a week ago - 4 months after warranty expired- so I was SOL for that, which I understand begrudgingly but a fact- so bought a replacement from them- of course it was the clutch but I figured I fix the failed one later and have it as a backup.....

Regarding down time, it still may be faster to replace that clutch. Then just tell Sonders you're sending the motor back.....

You may need to send the motor back period and get it exchanged - if they can. Looks like someone needs to go out into the warehouse and look at the motors. If you use an extension you will end up with a plug sticking out as that cable mount is perfectly placed to interfere with even using a zip tie to secure it.

If they ever return my calls or emails I’ll have a better indication- and your right the frame tabs are in the way + I bought this bike partially because it didn’t have zip ties and other cobbled together aesthetics like my home built one!! I’ve received a dozen emails reminding me how many bikes they have in stock and that I better buy one soon!!!!! Some tarnish is beginning to build on how I feel about this brand- hopefully some actual customer service will suddenly appear and make me a fan again-
