UK government slaps a ban on 'dangerous' e-bike battery which was sold on Amazon and linked to fires

Chinese-manufactured UPP lithium-ion battery 'presents a serious risk of fire as it is poorly built with poor welding'

It is really unfortunate because these fires can be avoided easily with the right kind of batteries.
This should be posted under the Guides and Announcements section so people are aware of them.
We need to be serious about these so no more lives are lost (like how we have seen in NYC) !

It looks like the long mulled EU legislation on lithium batteries above 2KW will be coming soon.
A battery passport including raw material source, construction , usage and condition.
The last two obviously requiring regular update
Not likely to affect legal MTBs, but there's plenty of electric bikes out there over 2Kw, like Surrons for starters.

I'm not sure how this affects multiple battery bikes
