New motors x 2 announced. More power (do we need it??) lighter, quieter, almost silent, slimmer batteries, cheaper prices.

The arms race continues and this one is a killer- more powerful but also cheaper, Amflow full sus bike with new motor from £3999:

They are gunning for Spesh, Giant, Trek et all.

I can remember the same guy promoted the TQ HPR 120 a long time ago.

It's real. They were set to announce next week at Sea Otter, but decided to release it today.

M2S release

Mondraker is the first major MTB manufacturer to announce an M2S powered bike, the Zendit. More will follow.

M2S: 130Nm, 1500W boost for 30 seconds, dual battery capability, 12A charger, 65W USB-C charge port, navigation via course download, and more.

Not really a fan of the power wars, especially in the MTB world. Access is iffy already. I've never felt my steps 8000 bike was really lacking for power. Other than that, they are pretty compelling and price is good. Large battery options, ant+ output (I assume, the previous gen did). I have a friend with the original amflow bike and he loves it and from what I hear its been reliable. Pricing is probably the most compelling news, a solid carbon bike with big battery, full power motor and high end build for 5k is really compelling. If nothing else, hopefully it puts downward pressure on the higher end bikes from other mfgs, because pricing has gotten crazy.

Exactly. With the new Aventon Current of a similar or indeed lower price, that's 2 disrupters making good reliable looking bikes, both with Chinese motors and at a reasonable price.

The power isn't of major concern to me, I am on the sidelines, fascinated ever since the original Amflow was announced at how this arms race kicked off. It seemed to completely shock Bosch & Spesh and others at the time, both of whom hurriedly produced firmware updates to increase power to compete.

Curious at Shimano - the EP8/EP6 are looking old now in comparison, but no rumours of next models. They have a large chunk of the existing market on many bike brands but so far have stayed out of this power race.

Competition is good!

I think they are trying to dance on the line between not being irresponsible and making advocacy more difficult with competing in the power game. Avinox just doesn't seem to care as much.

Yeah, no idea what Shimano is up to. The EP8 released in 2020 so its coming up on 6 years old. They've never offered a class 3 option either, which has limited them IMO. I like my steps 8000 fine, but the Yamaha on my Giant is a superior motor.
