Aventon Pace 500 PAS not functional? Ideas?

Purchased a new Aventon Pace 500 ebike on the first day that the new controller was available. The wife has been wanting to upgrade her inexpensive ebike and get a pass thru frame. The Aventon bikes caught her eye. I had her hold off until the new controller was available on March 1st.

Anyway, put the bike together yesterday and took it out for a spin. The throttle function and walking function work just fine. However, the PAS (level 1-5) does not work. I can pedal forever and the motor does not assist at all. I checked the brake connections. If someone has an idea of something else to check it might make my life better. I can wait for 48 hours for Aventon technical support to open up. It's not a major deal but nothing worse than to tell the wife she can't go riding on the first week in months without snow. We live in the rural WV mountains with nowhere else to go during a pandemic.

Yep. Aventon Support thinks the problem might be the cadence sensor. The nearest Aventon Elite dealer is over a 100 miles away and so Support contacted a couple other e-bike repair shops. None were comfortable working on the bike. Replacement bike will be sent. Not sure how easy it will be to take apart and pack up the old bike. I kept everything but there are dozens of foam and cardboard pieces, wire wraps and plastic bags. Oh well. At least Support was very responsive.
