Audi Electric Bike Concept

Hey guys,

Not sure if any of you have seen Audi's new e-bike, but it's an incredible piece of art! Below is it's official release video:

Anyway, it's probably 20K dollars, but if you had a ton of money it sure looks sick!

Cheers,
James

Wow James hat's pretty sweet! I love the carbon fiber frame, mid drive motor system (at least I'm assuming that's what it has), the pegs on the back for transporting a friend... or grinding a rail, and the enormous light bar on the handlebars. This is pretty exciting stuff, wouldn't be surprised to see an all wheel drive ebike from Audi someday ;)

Great find Ravi, I'd heard about the original Ford concept electric bike when I saw their 2014 collaboration with Pedego this past year at Interbike. The new Ford Supercruiser electric bike isn't as futuristic, it's more like a motorcycle or old fashioned car and I think they are trying to figure out who the real buyer is in the United States. In Europe where ebikes have more penetration I think middle aged folks (who like the high tech angle) are more inclined to buy vs. here the baby boomer folks who just want to have "fun" are a leading segment and those are also the people who appreciate and recognize the classic styling. In any case, I love to see big companies jumping in or at least testing the waters.

I'll think about creating a "Concept" forum here, for now I'm going to put this in other as I want to be careful about having too many empty areas (that's already the case with all of the brand forums I've got but those are linked from the site). Always open to new suggestions for the forum and site, thanks Ravi!

Whatever Audi can do, BMW can do it better.
BMW just paired up with Bosch to launch their own electric bike and this will hit the market in a few months.

Here is a press release: http://www.bikocity.com/bmw-cruise-e-bike-2014/

I don't know about better Ravi! Certainly not from a cool/artistic point of view, but maybe bacause it actually exists? I do love BMW however. Maybe one day I'll even own this:

Super cool!

Audi bike is way cooler than the BMW :)
But I was hinting at the apparent rivalry between them and how one company instigates other companies to launch similar product...

Well, my mouth is watering... Two more ebikes to track down and review!!

From the latest issue of Electric Bike Action Magazine. I want. I want. I want.

[edit] Sorry guys! We can't post entire articles from other websites with their pictures etc. that's plagiarism. The occasional quote and photo reference is alright (according to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act) but I've removed the article James posted and am asking him to post a link to the original source if he knows where it is.

Holy mother of god..!
Excluding the battery, the bike weighs at an astonishing 24.25lbs?!!!
Extraordinary engineering.

at least one ebike made it to the Geneva Auto Show that I attended yesterday. Smart had the bike there and even had a contest to win one.

I would post a photo but I can not upload from my phone. Phone is the only internet device I have on vacation here.

Thanks Brambor, that would be fun to cruise around in... Swing by the ebike shops and do some reviews in an electric car
