Most people who use Facebook or Google aren't paying customers. That means their rights with respect to Facebook and Google are seriously limited at best and might for all practical purposes be nonexistent.
One thing to remember is that if you are using any free service on the internet, you aren't the customer: you are the product.
Also, the scariest uses and abuses of people by tech companies are happening with companies you've never heard of and probably don't realize you are using. The widespread use of location data in apps is probably the easiest example to understand, and basically touches everybody who uses a smartphone. Your location data is aggregated and sold to whomever wishes to purchase it. In theory it is "anonymous" but in practice it is pretty easy to figure out someone's identity.
Another example is payment processors, which in addition to nickel-and-diming you (or the merchant you buy from) on everything you buy. is collecting data on what you are and are not purchasing and when you purchase it. And the data and analytics about your purchases are sold to whomever wishes to purchase it for whatever reason they might wish.
I am one thousand times more afraid of the above than whatever Facebook can do to me.
