I was looking around for a downtube bag along the lines of the Revelate Joey DownTube Bag (see review here) and came across the Appidura Expidition Bike Charger Pack [1.6l] which I could use to carry my Bosch charger when I need to and otherwise use it for other storage. They describe it thus:
Combining internal structural support and PU Foam for shockproof construction, the Expedition E-Bike Charger Pack (1.6L) is a versatile solution for carrying an E-bike charger safely and securely on the downtube of an E-bike. Waterproof materials, welded construction and a roll-top design create a versatile and compressible storage for E-bikepacking or E-touring...The Expedition E-Bike Charger Pack (1.6L) securely fastens to the downtube with a customizable velcro attachment compatible with even the largest of E-bike tube diameters, with anti-slip strips helping to avoid unwanted movement on rough terrain.

The comment that it fits the 'largest of E-Bike tube diameters' caught my attention as the downtube on my Riese and Muller Supercharger contains a battery, so it is on the large size.

Has anyone had experience with the Appidura or other downtube bags that could be used in a dual-purpose role? Price-wise, the Appirdura is cheaper for me here in Australia.

This is the beast

I clicked on the product link, and a pop-up informed me that shipping to the US has been suspended while the company recalculates the tariff-inclusive price. Revelate is hand-stitched in Alaska, so I guess this is (finally) an example of Trump's tariffs working as intended. Aushiker -> Apidura, dblhelix -> Revelate Design. Woo hoo.

@Aushiker is that how you’d mount the bag? Facing the front wheel, sans fender, that is?

I was just thinking that given how and where I ride (conditions) that bag would be a mess in short order. Caveat: I’ve never gone bikepacking or carried a charger though!

I am in Australia, so no problems for me with either option :). Mind you, Revelate Designs has been around a long time, managing seemingly just fine, selling a quality product. I have a few of their products on my fatbike.

My concern with the Joey is that the mounting straps may not be long enough to fit around my downtube, as it houses a battery. The Appidura does, and so does another alternative, from Restrap, I believe.

On my Surly, I normally have a 1.5-litre water bottle (soda bottle style I think) there, and I have mudguards. Still gets caked in grime.

I think can cope with a bag there :)
