Anyone order the RadMission?

RadMission.jpeg

I received mine on Saturday (ordered it on Aug. 16), and spent four hours yesterday assembling it and taking it out for a short inaugural ride afterwards. So far, I'm delighted. The fit and finish appears to be top notch. But I have yet to challenge it on some of the steep hills we have around here. Once I do, I'll report back.

Thanks for the picture, it looks really nice! It looks almost a cream colour, which I think looks better than plain white.

I have a blue one inbound to SW Alberta, with the same rear carrier and kickstand (the kickstand arrives tomorrow) but no fenders. I agree ... this looks like a really nice clean spartan bike ... an excellent photo. Does anybody know if the handlebars are height-adjustable? Every image and video that I have seen seems to have the bars lower than the seat. There are a lot of moderately-tall riders like myself (around 6' tall) who will likely have the seat at or near full extension ... and I'm not looking forward to a racer's crouch. Would there be enough "play" in the bar's cables to accommodate an aftermarket riser, if one was required?

I would think so, based on my experience with motorcycle brake and clutch cables. There appears to be at least 4-6 inches of slack built in.
Thank you very much for “getting back” to me (us) about this ... it’s comforting to know this kind of stuff. Enjoy the ride, and stay safe. We’re all excited to hear more about your reactions and impressions.

I’m 5’10”, with a 32” inseam, and when sitting on the seat and pedaling, my legs are almost fully extended with the balls of my feet on the pedals. I can easily stand over the frame without crushing the family jewels, and the reach to the well-padded grips is comfortable for my aging, 64 year-old back.

Yes, this bike was ordered on Aug. 16th for October delivery. A few weeks after I placed the order, I got an email from Rad Power telling me that delivery would be at the end of October, and it arrived Oct. 24th. We had our first hard freeze here in southern Oregon last week. But we only get the occasional snow down in the Rogue Valley, and right now we’re in “extreme” drought conditions. So although we’d really, really like some rain, the dry weather should (unfortunately) allow me to get in plenty of rides in the near term.

Hey WoodWorks,

That is great info for me to hear as well. Thank you for being so helpful. I am 6' and have a pants inseam of about 30-31 inches, and I am fretting when I see that your handle-bars seem to be below the level of your seat. I'm 71 and a bit stiff in my back and am not a big fan of riding in a racer's crouch. I've been riding a large-frame Specialized Rockhopper for more than 20 years, and fortunately the seat and bars are set at the same height ... which is considered optimum for my type of riding on that type of bike. I suspect that I might have to get some kind of after market "riser" (if that is what it's called) installed to achieve that same situation on my new Radmission. Not a big deal ... there's an app for that!

Thanks again! And (please) keep the comments and reactions and observations coming ... I suspect that there are dozens of us folks who are excited and waiting for our new "Metro" bikes ... 👍🏻 👍🏻

Well, it's the one pictured at the top of this page. And I didn't think of it as coming very quickly. It did take more than 2 months to ship, after all.

Here's some more RadMission porn for those of you still waiting.

Aha ... thanks for this. It seems to confirm what I had feared ... that the frame geometry means that (even for a 5'10" rider) a seat that is adjusted for proper leg-extension will probably be higher than the Radmission's stock handlebars.

A simple $22 aftermarket "riser" for the handlebars should easily correct that minor flaw, right? There are a lot of people out there who are taller than 5'9" ... right?

My concern is that a lot of tallish naive buyers will "default" to a goofy-low seat position ... just to stay gently leaning forward. You so-often see newbs sitting way way too low ... for whatever reason ... :(

Knees up around their elbows ...
