Just bumping it up... and adding a few tidbits to the discussion:

The fastest e-scooter is "able" to hit 100mph!!! OK, maybe not 100 but 80mph, only because it is limited but I'm sure some crazy dude will find a way to unlock it. Still, let that sink in: 80mph on 11" wheels: Rion Motors. Quite fast and dangerous for people who don't know what they are doing

I love the Alien Rides channel! I currently have a couple of tame scooters. A Ninebot Max that can do my entire 28-29 mile roundtrip commute and a TurboAnt X7 Pro which is much lighter and lives in my hatch as a last mile solution when I drive into work and don't want to pay $18-$24 per day in parking costs.

Weped FF or FS . Or the works-electric beast. With a lot of bright red and white lights for safety.
It Can easily hold 30mph+ For 20miles.

My ideal scooter would be dual motor, real world mileage of 35 miles in a hilly area, 35MPH speed and weigh 40 pounds. It doesn't exist, yet. The Mercane Wide Wheel dual motor would come close but the solid tires are terrible in the wet and handle poorly.

I have an itchy trigger finger for the Apollo Ghost. Dual motor, 35 MPH, ~39 miles of range, full suspension. But it's 64 pounds.

I've had it, returned it after 2 weeks. it was an abslute disaster due to the tires. And small 700wh batttery.

I use the Unagi 2 now. Very light, 20mph top speed, ONLY 6-12miles range, 252wh,900 $, 2x500watts motors.

The best right now In terms of weight and performance would be the one above, the Weped SMax, lbs, 900wh pack, 35mph+top speed, 25-40miles range.

In the pic , the price is AU $., about 1.8k US $.

But the FF has a 2.5kw battery
and 60mph top speed @4.7k.

The F15 (red one) has BIG tires, maybe a LOT safer ??

Back on the original premise: commuting and escooters. For me, a last mile Light EV with an EV is our solution. In our family's case it was a smart ED initially, now a Chevy Bolt, with the last mile (or so) provided by a Segway miniPRO (aka Ninebot S). The Segway self-balancing escooter is a far more stable solution to last mile(s) than the inline scooters. Especially when using an actual handlebar instead of the default knee controls as shown here: https://flic.kr/p/2ia9rWX

Not sure why the Segway/Ninebot products aren't competing in ride sharing with in-line powered escooters, but at our semi-annual Drive Electric experiences, https://driveelectricearthday.org and https://driveelectricweek.org/, general public, staff and students who try the Segway/Ninebot self-balancing escooters were far better received than in-line scooters! Now we are based in Central NC and cover Southern VA, so no major metro areas are part of our EVents.

I don't know what the rental fleets look like where you live but here in San Francisco, the majority of rental fleets use the Ninebot Max. When rental fleets started out here, the most popular scooter in use was the Xiaomi M365 (parent company of Segway Ninebot).

They had copied a lot of tech. From Nr. 1 -Weped and the result is vastly inferior to the original. That's why it's only 1.4k and not 3.6k or 4.7k.

Very surprised that the reviewer Micah had no clue about it and didn't even mention it. In Eu/Asia and lately NYC this IS IT. Weped FF (3.7k) or Fold(4.7k)..FS is 8k, 100mph, 120miles+range
