Any shops or manufacturers offer a leasing program?

A couple of my eBikes are 2015 and 2016 model years. Starting to see an issue with one of the 2016s. Having the thought that with the incredible drop of value with an eBike, and possible reliability issues, is there anyone offering a lease program? Make the monthly payments, then pick up a brand new one each or every other spring. Anyone see this?

Isn't the whole leasing game (whatever the object) in the end about residual value? Probably why you don't see anything with e bikes. Secondary market is almost non existent.

Yes, Riide offers leasing for I believe $79 a month and a $200 down payment. They are in DC, not sure what other cities they run their leasing program in, and last I looked they were sold out of their leasing bikes. Benefit is that it is lease-to-own and once you finish 2 years the bike is yours.

After 2 years is the issue. That’s the time you’re replacing chains, brakes, and maybe loosing some range in the battery. I’m starting to wonder what the heck we do with a used eBike that has little value. Maybe NPR will take it like they do used cars.

I know - I have a 2014 Izip e3 ultra that the battery has crapped out on - I THINK it’s just the battery but could be something else as well. Anyway, I don’t want to put $600 into it to find out, so instead am just going to get a new bike. But what to do with the Izip? I don’t know, honestly - my LBS wouldn’t take it for a “trade in” as it’s too old. I guess I’ll just see if they want it for parts, after I myself scrap it for any useable parts...unless someone in the DC area wants to try to rebuild the battery....
