Am I Imagining It?

HI all,

I just bought a mew 'Liq Rock', a MTB, with a Bosch 500 CX equipment. I already have a ebike with a smaller battery and motor. When going for my first trip, I felt that I was 'pushing against the motor' and needed the higher power setting to keep up with my older bike. Is this 'pushing the motor' a normal and common feeling?

The lower 3 Bosch models have no overrun clutch, so if your feet try to power you faster than the controller plans for you to ride, you drag the motor with your feet. I had thought this problem would mostly show up while trying to ride without power (which I do about 60% of the distance) but young & vigorous riders could overspeed lower assistance levels.
Brose, Yamaha, & Shimano steps mid-drives have the overrun clutch, as does the most expensive bosch mid-drive. 99% of geared hub motors have the overrun clutch. They ride without power without drag, the only penalty to having a motor is the extra weight. Direct drive motors do not, and mine was a real drag when I tried to ride without power.

The lowest assist level is useless for sure. I never use it.

Who are you asking? Indianjo has never had a Bosch powered bike as far as I know.
