A 2 Horsepower Ebike

Our formula for horsepower is V x A = W /746=HP

52V battery with 30 amp controller equals 1560W/746=2.09 HP.

Of coarse that is with perfect ideal conditions, as the battery charge depletes you will lose some of that power.

Some use a formula of 1000 Watts to compensate for all losses that can occur so a 52V with a 20 amp controller would be 1HP, doing that you would need to bump up to 40 amp controller for the 2hp, but the battery drain and push on the motor would be high, the Bafang G510 seems to handle it as some bike makers are tuning it to that. I saw one at 3000 watts that would be a 3HP Ebike.

I wonder if Ebikes will ever be rated by horsepower like cars?
