the 8fun motor on my civia ebike will not run. battery good, display normal. no assist when pedaling and no throttle, just a faint click when throttle engaged. Any help for where to go from here? Is the motor shot ? controller? any help apreciated

If walk assist also does not work after all connections have been checked, then it most likely is the controller. This week we had a new bike that as soon as the customer got it home would not work. We had to drive 90 miles to do an exchange and ordered a new controller. As I was installing the new controller I noticed that the original connection to the display was off by 1.5 mm. It is usually the simple stuff.

thanks, all the connections were checked. It was being ridden up a hill . suddenly the boost came on and after heavy braking the motor shut down. will not start now

Is this a used bike? Apparently, Civia shut down 4 years ago, but there are still websites selling them. Anyway, if it accelerated on its own, and the electrical switches in the brakes didn't instantly shut down the motor, there must have been some major electrical problems in the controller.

If you bought one from these guys, they owe you a replacement bike. The link shows a motor integrated into frame. If that's what you have, it may be tough to locate a motor, much less the internal controller electronics, and it may cost more than what you paid for the bike,

If it's an external mid drive like these, the internal electronics are available if you're able to install them.

Then it is a BBS01 or BBS02 motor? You'll need to make sure because I believe they are different sizes.

Available on amazon, if you know the size, You probably want to find a US seller.

There will be many videos on youtube that describe replacement. I have a BBS02B with about 1000 miles in 7 years, Nothinghas gone wrong with it, but low miles,

ericaceto. that link says BBSHD. The BBSHD case is larger, so the controller will not fit. Look for a BBS02B 500-750W model. You might also look at the reviews to see if any negatives show up,

It's likely a new controller works. If not then you have to buy a whole BBS01B. Is there a way to rotate the motor with the case off to see if it turns freely both ways?
