HPC explorer

Hi Court,
Great work on the site! I've been trying to learn about what options are out there for e-bikes, and this seems like the most complete and informative source around on the internet.

I had my mind all set on the Volton alation mid-drive 350, but then I stumbled across HPC and their offerings. The explorer seems like a beast for the price with a 750W motor that you can upgrade to 1500W.

How much stock can you put in the numbers anyway? I'm looking for something zippy that can also take me up Seattle hills. I'd be really interested to hear your thoughts on this!

HPC has been around for a while now. I've never tried any of their bikes, but they look like decent quality

The 1200w explorer version is the 750w version but unlocked useing a computer that you can do at home, the 8fun 750w Maxs at 1190w after it's unlocked don't no what else they have done , but 8fun dosent make a 1200w mid drive so they are doing something to the 750w. http://m.ebay.ca also they selling it as 1100w but when they put it on there bikes it's 1200w ... But like I said it's 1190w with speed limit changes

,michealkeatns, I am not sure the 1200w explorer is only a computer upgrade and in fact just unlocking the bike without making the required battery upgrade could be detrimental to the bikes lifespan. From what I have found, the 750w version comes with a 36v, 11.5ah battery while the 1200w comes with a 48v, 11.5ah battery. I know the 1200w version is $400 more but for being unlocked and set up correctly from the factory plus the better battery it is not too much to ask imo. I dont know a lot about these things but i am in the market for a new ebike and have been rresearching very carefully before spending a years savings on one of these things.
