Hot rod your ebike?

I look at the ebike market as similar to the automobile. In it's infancy. Somewhere, somehow, hot rodding ebikes for more power, speed, whatever, I would expect to take place. And maybe it already is, I just don't see it.

I think bigger hub motors as replacements would be a start.

You can buy pizza sized hubmotors for a few hundred bucks on amazon, bolt them into a old bike and scoot them past 30 mph on 52V batteries. I've converted over a dozen bikes for my own fun, never had much interest in the high power kits. Had enough close calls on motorcycles when I was younger.

In the Euro countries, they tend to frown on that, In London, there's outright media bias against faster bikes. I think fast means over 16 mph over there.

If you want to go fast get an emoto.
Otherwise, increase the voltage for speed and amps for torque. Which most likely would require a new controller and battery.
Personally, I think a motorcycle with pedals is a sign of lunacy.

There's a youtube channel of a guy who rides a sur ron or similar through the streets of LA that brought this to mind. He is not concerned about the law as they have plenty of other things to do.

There's going to be plenty of really nice bike paths available when the gasoline runs out.

I don't necessarily need to go faster, for myself 20 mph or little over is plenty fast enough. I would like to get there quicker and have more power for pulling hills, etc.

And I just applied for social security, don't really need to kill myself, at least for a few years.
