Battery lock key

Have a 2020 Yamaha cross connect and lost the battery lock key. Has anyone had any luck getting one made? Talked with LBS and Yamaha customer relations and they said keys are not available, buy the whole lock assy for $100, that is just unacceptable, you sell the bike you should have the spare parts or be able to get them. One of the reasons I purchased Yamaha is customer service!

Similar problem. Any info on how to get a new key? I bought a used Civante, but the owner had lost the battery key. Even if I got an entire new assembly (which obviously I'd rather not do), it's not clear how to remove the old one. Thanks!

Many here have had good luck by taking the bike to a locksmith. At the very least, he can pick the lock so the battery can be removed and the assembly replaced. I'm sure Yamaha doesn't make their own locks and likely sources them. You may be able to find an aftermarket lock assembly for a lot less than $100.

Here's one on eBay for $10:

A locksmith may also be able to make a key. It would help if someone could post a picture of a Yamaha key to compare with the pic above. It would help the locksmith identify the right key blank.

Welcome to the forum and good luck finding a key!
