Depending on the X-section shape of the 42mm tyres, you might find them a bit tight inside the mudguards. That wouldn’t matter too much with small stones, which generally seem to rattle their way round and out, but could be problematic with heavy mud, which might clog up the wheels somewhat.
I really like my 40mm Pirelli gravel tyres - much grippier than the standard Spec tyres which I used for the first 4 weeks of owning the bike. There’s no way I would deliberately ride even close to the edge of the tyres’ abilities, but I did feel the Spec tyres slip sometimes, and was very aware of a different feel with the Pirellis. Also they can be run at 40psi (I’ll check the tyre later and confirm the pressure range).
