Interbike 2018: Brose Antriebstechnik presents innovations
The Drive S Mag is the newest member of the product family Brose Drive. Thanks to its innovative magnesium housing, it is 15 percent smaller and 1 pound lighter than the current drive models and achieves an even higher power-to-weight ratio. Further software optimization and new electronics provide up to 410 percent support. E-bikers can enjoy the maximum power of 90 Newton meters over an even wider cadence range. "Our Brose Drive S Mag meets the demands of very ambitious e-bikers. At the same time, we enable manufacturers to reduce the weight of their bicycles even further. Thus they can respond to market trends towards lighter e-bikes," explains Dr. Joachim Volland, Head of Brose Antriebstechnik. Innovative riding mode ”Flex Power Mode“ Along with the Drive S Mag Brose introduces a new, dynamic assist level. This “Flex Power Mode” combines two new software parameters: Cadence Power Control (CPC) and Progressive Pedal Repsonse (PPR). With Cadence Power Control (CPC) the drive measures cadence and torque input to deliver e-bikers up to 30 percent more support at higher cadences. The newly developed Progressive Pedal Response (PPR) provides an even faster drive response when pressure is applied to the pedals. “The instant power output of the new Brose Drive S Mag ensures a more controlled start on inclines and an even more agile e-mountain bike riding experience. With this lightweight drive e-bikers can confidently master even the steepest inclines and extreme challenges,” emphasizes Volland. Worldwide service and enhanced maintenance Brose is breaking new ground with a specially developed diagnosis and service tool for dealers and workshops. The new service tool will soon enable a fast and precise diagnosis and maintenance of Brose drives. Its market launch is scheduled for mid-2019. "Service is a priority for us – and the new service tool reflects that. In addition to that, we are also consistently expanding our worldwide partner network," says Volland. New service partners have been assigned in North America, Southern and Eastern Europe as well as in Switzerland; more countries will follow. For the first time Brose will offer tech clinics for dealers on its drive systems at Interbike and will announce a dealer training program for 2019 together with partnering brands. Newly designed website Aligned with the motto "drive", the new website highlights passion and motivation for cycling. Visitors can quickly and intuitively learn about the various Brose drive models and their areas of application, such as urban, trekking and mountain biking. "Cycling is pure emotion – whether the motivation is sport, health or our environment. We share this passion for cycling and our Brose technology contributes to the individual riding experience. This is exactly what our new web presence illustrates," explains Volland.
