Uphill Both Ways

I recently had a chain split, jam in the rear derailleur, and cause some unknown amount of strain on the drive train. After replacing the chain as well as the rear cassette, I have noticed that the front chain ring will still continue to spin a bit when I stop pedaling and coast. If I am riding reasonably hard this will be 1.5 to 2.0 revolutions. If I am riding easy, maybe one revolution. It is like the motor is continuing to add power after I stop pedaling. I never noticed this before. Does anyone else experience this? I am wondering whether something in the motor was damaged when the chain jammed.
