Topeak or other rear rack for ST1? Disc brake width??

Im looking for a rear rack (in the USA) to use with my ST1 which did not come with a rear rack when I purchased it. Has anyone used the Topeak models that are currently available? I notice they sell a version which is advertised as compatible with disc brakes, allowing room for the brake...

    Newbie needs some advice

@R_Harp I wish I knew then, what I know now, about e-bikes. Not that I am unhappy at all with my Stromer ST1. I got a good deal and it is a very nice bike, etc. There are a number of online sellers who are working hard to make e-bikes more available. And they give you some real bang for your...

Newbie here thinking of starting an e-bike tour company!

Hmmmm, many good points here, as I also think about renting or a tour company. The point about running out of juice by tourists who just use the throttle makes me think a pedal assist only type bike might help alleviate this problem. Or tours short enough or flat enough to have plenty of battery...

Why Electric Bikes Shouldn't Be Allowed on Mountain Biking Trails?

It does sound like e bikes are becoming more popular but I doubt at the rate of small RC drones. And drones cause problems for larger aircraft, which drove the Federal government to do something. Regulating bikes is a local problem, but a good point is made by @ROCebike that revenue and safety...

Why Electric Bikes Shouldn't Be Allowed on Mountain Biking Trails?

On my list: visit Switzerland, ride the Jungfraujoch train to Mt. Mönch and ride the passes on a motorcycle. E biking would just add to the trip. I suspect many views better than this but chickens are tasty.

Recommend a DIY kit source for my 1st build please

Too much power... guess it depends on who you are renting to, and where. I've yet to get on one that powerful, being new to all this, but yes, renting powerful bikes to the usual tourist crowd to ride around a popular town would worry me. Checking out some of the controllers, it seems you might...

Recommend a DIY kit source for my 1st build please

Thanks for the replies. Opens up a whole new world with more choices than I ever imagined. Then, I see this, from Luna: Of course the mind reels at the potential FUN of this thing. I am, after all, a long time motorcyclist, who has only recently discovered this e-bike world. Their Electro...

Recommend a DIY kit source for my 1st build please

I am new to the e bike world and want to try my hand at converting a K2 Easy Street 'comfort bike' that I bought from REI a few years ago. Great, comfortable bicycle with front suspention, Suntour seat shock and SRAM drivetrain. Some of the specs of the bike: Crankset: SR Suntour XCC...

Newbie here thinking of starting an e-bike tour company!

I'm curious about your #1 for a rental operation. The length of the usual rental period would dictate what amp/hr you would need, wouldn't it? For example, if you were renting to tourists in, say, Paris (like the OP) and 90% of your customers wanted to ride down the Seine along a designated path...

    GoPro Camera Setup with Microphone

Just for another alternative, I use a Drift Innovations Stealth 2. Available from Amazon for about $100. https://amzn.com/B00MCWWL0G It works well. I like the size (small) and it mounts more "flush" than some others, on a helmet. It has some features I like as well, such as a rotating lens...

Making her my own. Serfas Rx split seat, Suntour NCX seat post. Cushy. There's a new plastic fender in there. And I lost the cap on the top of the suspension fork, less than two weeks old! Lovin' it though.

    Pedego vs. The World

That BMW dealership might not be a bad idea! BMW Motorcycle keeps having banner years, largely on the basis of selling its popular GS 'adventure' motorcycles to baby boomers with enough cash for a $25,000 moto. I own a 2002 version, absolutely love riding it. But BMW & all the moto makers are...

    Different Bar for Hybrid

GS, that looks like what I might need. I'm thinking I will try raising the bar with an adjustable stem first. I've got one of those bad backs, too! BTW, is that a Sony videocam on your bars?

    Different Bar for Hybrid

Good thread here. I have the straight bar blues on my new ST1. My wrists hurt. I'm thinking the bar is just too low so I thought I'd try an adjustable stem first, to raise the bar up, a little back. Anyone ever tried this approach before switching out the handlebars?

    Pedego vs. The World

I don't think the idea is to leave it there while you go riding. It's a rolling shop. I'm not sure I'd take it to a trail head to let people thrash the bikes. At least not without holding a credit card & signed waiver, etc. Then again, wouldn't it be great to set up at a trail & invite some of...

Which bikes have Bosch, pedelec AND throttle option?

Thanks, gents. After just a couple of rides I can report that yes, I LOVE IT! My first "longish" ride was about 9 miles out, 8 back on local, level, bike paths. It was beautiful out. A couple of things about the bike. 1) yes, a throttle is really not missed. The responsiveness of this bike is...

    Pedego vs. The World

I am a new owner of a Stromer ST1 after re-discovering the ebike world and the move to pedal assist bikes (as opposed to throttle only). I generally research the heck out of any new purchase online, read reviews (thanks to forums like this!) and, in this case, shopped around at local...
