    Quietest motor?

FWIW, I ended up getting a Specialized Turbo Vado 4 with a belt drive and an IGH. Pics and more details in this thread: New Turbo Como 4 I'm very happy with the sound of the motor. I find it is quieter in Eco mode than higher ones; I suppose that is to be expected.

    New Turbo Como 4 (IGH)

Ah, that brings back memories. 40+ years ago I rode my 10-speed bike on Huron River Drive to the cider mill every autumn. The mill, cider and doughnuts are still there, but Huron River Drive is now much more dangerous for cyclists (increased number of cars). However, there is now a...

    New Turbo Como 4 (IGH)

I took delivery of a new Turbo Como 4 (IGH) last week, and have begun riding it around town, and a bit into the country too. The timing worked out as I was able to take advantage of the $500 discount from Specialized. I think I overdid it the first two days (30 miles and another 30 miles) and...

Turbo Como 4.0 IGH: How to be prepared for flat tire?

I, too, would like to know. Perhaps next week I will be able to figure it out assuming the Como 4.0 I have on order arrives at the LBS. In the meantime, I have ordered the following kit to carry with me: Park Tool TB-2 Emergency Tire Boot 2 Park Tool TL-6.2 Steel-Core Tire Levers REMA TT 02...

Turbo Como 4.0 IGH: How to be prepared for flat tire?

Okay, after reading a few other threads I see that one inserts the FlatOut into the tubes before riding and it is supposed to plug a puncture from the inside (once the nail or glass shard or whatever has been removed). So the gear you bring is a pair of pliers to do that removal and some kind of...

Turbo Como 4.0 IGH: How to be prepared for flat tire?

Is this like a standard bit of gear everyone carries with them?

Turbo Como 4.0 IGH: How to be prepared for flat tire?

I’m not sure how to use this product; do you spray it onto the leak? How do you know where to spray it?

Turbo Como 4.0 IGH: How to be prepared for flat tire?

Yes, the IGH has a belt drive. So removing the rear axle allows you to remove the rear wheel from the frame?

Turbo Como 4.0 IGH: How to be prepared for flat tire?

The stock tire on a new Turbo Como 4.0 IGH is a Pathfinder Sport Reflect, 650Bx2.3 (front and rear). If I were to experience a flat tire while out riding, far from any local bike shop, what should I have with me in my trunk bag to at least help me get back home (let's say 20 miles away)? I...

    Quietest motor?

Thanks for your thoughts. I think that a hub drive is not an option since I'm aiming to get another CVT such as the Enviolo. So far, the Specialized Como 4 IGH is the closest I've come to a 'natural' feeling e-bike. It may only be 250 W, but I won't be climbing any mountains where I live, and...

    Quietest motor?

I don’t think so. Both bikes had a belt drive. I noticed the sound while pedaling, not hard, just normally. The only major difference was the manual transmission vs the Automatiq.

    Quietest motor?

Thanks, everyone, for your comments. I test-rode a Como 4 IGH and a Vado 5 IGH today; the main difference besides frame geometry was manual vs. Automatiq. The Como 4 was almost completely silent; I was very pleasantly surprised. The Vado 5 wasn't loud, but motor noise was more noticeable than...

    Quietest motor?

I'm hoping to drive out to a Specialized dealer that has the Como and Vado in stock to test ride them this weekend. It also has the Mastermind system to help tune the ride, and the rear radar system too.

    Quietest motor?

Hi everyone, first time poster with questions about e-bike mid-drive motor noise. First, background/context: I am a retired male in my late 60s, six foot tall, 180 lbs, not terribly fit, but in reasonably good health I've ridden regular bicycles for over sixty years, however, the last ten...
