    Chain issues on Allant 7

Update. After a few frustrating days, I took it in the the Trek shop. I had done everything right, but the new cassette I had purchased, a BiBike, was defective. the cogs for gears 7 and 8 were not the right width and that is what prevented the gears from riding properly. They replaced the...

    Chain issues on Allant 7

This picture really helped. Looks like I was running about 5 links too long. Now for the gears. All are smooth except 7 and 8. Any advice there?

    Chain issues on Allant 7

I think my last chain was an 9x, I bought a couple of e9 chains for this round. I wonder if my chain is the right length though. Measuring by the last chain I think I'm OK, but I wonder if that would make a difference in the wear of chain and sprocket?

    Chain issues on Allant 7

I rarely ride the 9th gear. That gear was skipping within 3 months of getting my bike. I ride eco mode in gears 7 and 8 most of the time. I just didn't think I would need to replace the sprocket again. Maybe I waited too long to replace the chain.

    Chain issues on Allant 7

Brand new chain. I measured to match the old one. I'm at 4200 miles. This is my second cassette. I have looked at just replacing the outer cogs, but its cheaper to replace the whole unit.

    Chain issues on Allant 7

I waited two weeks for my new chain to arrive, got everything all lined up while on the stand, but when I go to ride it, it skips on the outer sprockets for gears 7-9. Does that mean I need to replace the cassette again? I replaced the chain and sprocket at 5 months. I ride about 55 miles per...

    Tire replacement size compatiblity

The original tires (Schwalbe P-one, 27.5x2.25) have tread left, but one has a split tread and must be replaced. I have seen several discussions about tires and have looked for the Schwalbe e-Plus tire, but the sizes do not match. Will a 700X50 fit? It is only 2 inches instead of 2.25 inches.

Lots of good advice. I thank you all. My chain is replaced, but I am still working on the gears. They are close.

New man on the block. Could use some advice

Thanks for the video. I've watched these. It seems there is a bit of an art to it that I have not yet mastered. I have the inner and outer stops good, it is the shift from 8 to 9 that is still a bit glitchy.

New man on the block. Could use some advice

The rest of the cogs look OK, but I don't know how to get a replacement for just one cog. I can't seem to find an exact match. Either way, I already replaced the entire cassette. Now if I could just get those gears right.

New man on the block. Could use some advice

Update for you I replaced my cassette today. The new one works great. I am still having trouble adjusting the gears. I don't quite have the knack for that. Here's a pic of the old cassette. The last two cogs were separate and could be replaced without replacing the entire cassette. I'll need to...

New man on the block. Could use some advice

Thanks for that, I was half right. Any advice on which cassette is stronger. I really don’t want to have to replace this 3 times a year. Trek says the bike has a shimano hg200 9 speed 11-36t. I have already ordered a new chain.

New man on the block. Could use some advice

I have been riding, mostly on the road, but some when I go camping for years. I just switched in April from a Trek 7100 to a Trek Allant 7. Love the extra power of the bike, however, it has been jerking in high gear. If I go down a notch, it is fine. I took it to the local trek shop for a...
