2024 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

I’m envious of the epic conditions that most of you are able to take advantage in particular @RabH. We’ve been pestered by sporadic showers and strong wind gusts that have clearly impacted the frequency and duration of our rides. Despite the inconsistent weather patterns, we’ve still managed to...

Perhaps it's draining into Nemesis lake. ;) Great ride nevertheless and kudos to you for being the good Samaritan that you are. 👍

    Knee Protection on the Trail

I remember that day in March clearly as the Coastline trail wasn’t well marked at the time. Conditions weren’t optimal either as the snow was deep and soft along some sections and none of us were riding fatties which could have helped tremendously with the terrain.

Like you, I did a bit of wrenching today to better enable me to face steeper climbs that I plan on tackling over the course of the season. I swapped out the stock 11/30t cassette for an 11/34t along with a new chain and will retain the 52/36 upfront for now. No issue with the RD accepting the...

That Corona Saw is carried by our local Home Depot as well and appears to get a thumbs up from the folks over at Pinkbike. 👍

SHOW us YOUR PIX here .... Odd, WeiRd ,UnUSuAl or EyE CaTchIng things from your rides

I’m no bull-y but there’s no way I would have moosed with it if it was a male in its prime. Judging by its stubby antler buds, he was just a yearling and was behaving more typical of a curious child. Nevertheless they can be unpredictable animals so perhaps I should have known better. Being an...

SHOW us YOUR PIX here .... Odd, WeiRd ,UnUSuAl or EyE CaTchIng things from your rides

A young moose with its mottled coat wandered into the hood this evening looking for a snack. It was nibbling at a Cotoneaster shrub across the street and suffice it so say we thought that it was safely far enough from my wife’s garden. Five minutes later I glanced out the front window and...

A saw like that would come in handy for trees with less girth just to clear the trail for others who might come along. Lifting a bike over a few logs doesn’t pose much of an issue but it becomes tiring if the trail is constantly littered with deadfall. Holy carp is right. You may have well been...

That’s the quandary that I faced on one occasion. If you recall, my desire to ride a non-powered ultra light weight mtb would have been ideal on a hike and bike last season to the top of the Prairie View Trail in K Country. The last 100 meters or so required that I carry the Levo up to the...

    Electric Air Pumps 2024

I took our Fumpa on a recent overseas trip and it worked out great. We plan on doing it again this year. The extension nozzle is uber handy.

    Electric Air Pumps 2024

Bacon strips? I would think a side or slab might be cheaper over the long run. ;)I carry a dynaplugger but haven’t needed it yet and hope I won't have to. I also carry a small bottle of Stans on the trail and haven’t had a puncture yet. What is your preferred method for prepping tires for...

Gorgeous. I’m afraid that we weren’t as fortunate although we did see the lights faintly moving above us there was no shimmer of color whatsoever. Today the skies are filled with wildfire smoke from northern BC so no riding today or even chance viewings of the lights I'm afraid.

I took to the singles yesterday including several at the local mtb park. There were a number of downed trees that likely were casualties of the wind storm that blew in last week. Coincidentally, Arbor Day was also celebrated around the same time and reminds us of the importance of our trees and...

Impressive Macgyvering there, Charge! 👍You need to take that ride to a pump park and show the kids how it’s really done.

An early evening ride is too good to pass up particularly when conditions were fine as they were tonight. Weather wise, it was quite a transformation from yesterday when wind driven rain gusting up to 75 kph at times had everyone seeking shelter indoors.

Nice looking bike and great rack/pannier setup. Did you opt for the QR dropout mounts? I like the versatility of their universal thru axle kit which allows me to fit the rack on to several different bikes.

    Are You An All-Year-Round Cyclist?

Year rounder here too though I’m the first to admit that the snowy season isn’t my favorite time to ride. Having the right tool for the job does come with benefits and so wintry outings are far preferable than being confined to an indoor trainer. It goes without saying that summer rides are...
