    BBSO2 crank arms

The big problem here is trying to find a RH crank arm WITHOUT at least a spider fixed to it. I could just order spare crank arms from Bafang supplier and replace if one gets bent or broken...but I'd rather have an arm that can take a little bumping without bending like that. Trail biking...

    BBSO2 crank arms

Thanx JR. This thread does address the issue...the Bafang supplied crank arms do bend easily IMHO. I clipped that log at less than 10mph, a glancing bump really, and the crank arm bent almost 45 degrees. I'm going to look for suitable higher quality crank ARMS not a crank set with chain rings...

    BBSO2 crank arms

Speaking of crank arm. Does anyone know if I can replace the factory crank arms with an aftermarket crank arm? While out on the trail the other day some soft sand divertid my line a bit further then I wanted and the right crank arm bump against a log. It was not a hard hit, but it bent the...

    Watch the pinch

I noticed something today. No matter how much you torque the M6 bolts and the lock rings, due to the natural torque reaction, the motor will work itself up and against the downtube. This is not a problem unless like the Trek, the rear derailluer cable runs down along there. If this cable gets...

Does anyone know the answer to this question?

I love my BBs02. On the trails it is great to have that assist in power. I can temper my rides so I get a decent workout but not be over-exerting. Now as I am at the Jersey Shore area many of my road rides are on flat land, or mostly flat with some grades. I have found I am riding a lot in...

    Converted Trek

Motor 600. Battery 525, bling ring 40 misc stuff 20 so about 1200 all told. Half the price of a fairly good level purpose built e-bike with a hub motor. Of course the more expensive the bike is, you may be up to that. But even with that a good XC or trail bike built as an ebike is over 3k.

    Converted Trek

Finished the conversion on the Trek. Ride is awesome!. This bike has a 73mm BB shell, so it requires longer M6 bolts and nylon spacers. You also can only fit the first slotted lock ring. It is always a good practice to check tightness on the bolts and lock ring as part of your pre-ride...

    Battery Endurance Test

As part of my 8fun testing, I wanted to do a real world (at least the way I ride) distance evaluation. So to keep this brief, here goes: Constants: I am 58, 6'1", 230lbs. I used for this run a 48v 15ah Li from Cali-Bike. Obviously a high quality battery in a tough case 11" x 8" x 4". I...

    Initial Field Report

I've installed the 8Fun 750W on my old cheapie Schwinn 700c Third Ave. Initial testing is impressive. Installation went well, I acquired a 48V 15ah Samsung cell Li from CaliBike. I mounted it on the cargo rack above the rear wheel. Over the last 2 days and 40+ miles of riding I have found I...

    Very New At This

Hi Roy. This is what is so good about these forums. One member here Jz1276 seemed to have a similar problem on a Diamondback. His solution was to mount a cylindrical pack on top of the crossbar. (Photo below). There is more than one way to skin a cat indeed. I don't have many big hills...

    The differences are?.....

Interesting. I was contemplating one of those "clutch buttons" from em3ev. Ive also read about using break lever judiciously to cut motor while shifting, but I suspect the same delay in that method. I honestly cant see using 3-4 gears at most, I dont have that kind of terrain here. But if I...

    Very New At This

Frame geometry may exclude this bike. I've made cardboard templates of bottle mount batteries and triangular frame bags. They won't fit in this frame. I dont want anything like a rack behind the seat with a 10lb battery on it. Any ideas?

What are differences (if any) from an erad mid drive kit and a Bafang kit?

Thanks for the reply, Court. I'm pretty much sold on the mid-drive because of the C.G. advantages I have read. Plus, many of my off road trails have patches of sand where much torque is required to keep momentum. As far as putting it on the hybrid bike which is primarily paved road or bike...

    Very New At This

Hello all. I began riding bikes for recreation over a year ago, after a very long hiatus. I currently own a Schwinn Third Ave Hybrid steel frame and recently purchased a Trek Ex Caliber 7 hardtail as I enjoy off road riding more. I live in a beach area at the Jersey shore and with the warm...
