    Ride Control Firmware

Navigation and on screen phone messages were both advertised selling features of the Giant bike. It still upsets me these don’t work flawlessly after having the bike a year and a half. At his point a partial refund seems like a logical request.

    GIANT RideControl App 2.0

Anyone attempt an update with version 1.1 yet?

    GIANT RideControl App 2.0

One hopes that someone in a position of responsibility at Giant reads these messages. Don’t hold your breath. After over a year dealing with Giant’s software, I’m done recommending Giant. It’s a shame too, I have loved my Defy for years and have told so many people just how I’ve thought it’s...

    GIANT RideControl App 2.0

I’ve previously had to pay for an update. NOBODY should have to pay out of pocket since the bikes were advertised as having the ability to do it via phone. Giant should pay, period.

    GIANT RideControl App 2.0

Mini USB charger is an advertised feature on the 2019 EVO. However there are also other advertised EVO features that have never worked reliably on my bike.

    GIANT RideControl App 2.0

The screen time setting has no affect in iOS. It still fails. My previous iPhone died quickly in the cold, I bought an adapter and just powered it from the bike.
  8. Q

    GIANT RideControl App 2.0

that didn’t work so well with the last version of the app, but we can hope!

    GIANT RideControl App 2.0

I tried multiple times on a 2019 QuickE with ios14.01 and ios 14.1 on an iPhone 11. It won’t get past 4%. I loaded the old app to see if that worked. It says no updates available.

    GIANT RideControl App 2.0

For those successful with the update, are you using iOS or Android?

    GIANT RideControl App 2.0

Mine has had that ever since I had to pay a dealer to do a software update to my in-warranty bike this summer. It’s an approximation of rider effort.
  12. Q

    GIANT RideControl App 2.0

I tried the app, it started a firmware update and quickly failed. It seems to work as good as the old app. I hope they got a money back guarantee on the development work.

    New App Update: Almost here

So if the majority of mountain bike buyers ride on paved bike paths, would it also be ok for the suspension not to work? Picking a poor app partner when you are new to the game is one thing. It seems that they may have been able to minimize some customer dissatisfaction through better tech...

    New App Update: Almost here

Giant should have sent notice to every dealer to update every bike in their inventory. There’s no excuse to have to take a new bike into a dealer during a pandemic.
  15. Q

    New App Update: Almost here

Nope. I’ve asked a couple times since losing top speed after changing tires. If this is actually true, at least two dealers don’t know how which reinforces Giants lack of tech integration support.

    New App Update: Almost here

That’s exactly the issue I had. I couldn’t update via the app as advertised. I moved and am not near the dealer I bought from. The local dealer charged me to update the software even though the bike was within the warranty period. Imagine buying a car and paying for warranty service because...

    Ride Control Firmware

So many people have to take their bikes to a shop for updates even though Giant’s advertising says you can do it wirelessly. The wrench icon appears randomly and needs to be dealer reset as if it is a planned ongoing revenue stream. Dealers are charging for this. I don’t fault them as their time...

    Ride Control Firmware

Do all advertised features work for you? Iphone or Android? Perhaps I’m doing something wrong.
  19. Q

    Ride Control Firmware

It’s not the bike. The software is just terrible. The bikes were sold with the ability to get text messages on the screen. Has anyone seen that work? Turn by turn navigation? Also a selling feature, after several updates, there’s something resembling this, but have you ever tried to program...

    Ride Control Firmware

I don’t disagree one bit. I’ve owned many Giant bikes and have always recommended them to friends. After my experience with my QuickE software, I will never buy, nor recommend another Giant product.
