Take the battery out. Turn it upside down and look for screws on the bottom, Might be hidden by labels/stickers or rubber plugs, The case splits in half, and you'll see the drilled out keylock screwed to one of the case halves. Not knowing your skill level, opening a battery case can result in...

Can Lectric's ONE be converted to kt-lcd3?

I think my Kt controllers 17-25 amps and 36 -52 volt batteries have good throttle modulation with thumb throttles. The LCD3 is kind of chunky for a display, but the numbers are easy to read and it show watts and ambient temperature inside the case/ . I am just surprised by the pricing. I've...

Can Lectric's ONE be converted to kt-lcd3?

$149? THey should throw in the PAS sensor so you know you have one that will work.

    Newbie Here

Never had the pleasure of seeing a Giant LaFree, but keys are either mounted in the frame or in the battery. If this is your lock and it's in the frame, you should be able to replace it if you drilled it. There's another view where it's held in by two vertical screws.

Can 36v be better than 48?

They used to sell 24V ebikes too, but in those days, the motors were often mounted outrigger style and drove a second set of gears opposite the derailleur, Then came 24V hubmotors. Ten years ago, I quickly eliminated direct drive hubmotors from DYI consideration when I learned they were heavier...

Can 36v be better than 48?

It's probably an economic thing, Less cells in a 36V pack. and if the customer accepts the lower performance, seller saves some money, Still, I think most any ebike can hit the class 1 or class 2 20 mph limit on 36V, I have a 10 cell 36V4.2Ah battery made with Molicell P42A 21700 cells that can...

    no wheels

The video came out in 2017, They're gone. Check out this guy, Maybe he will sell his prototype, HE said he wasn't interested in making any more, but perhaps people in the comments will want to set up some kind of group buy.

    no wheels

It could, but more likely to unweight a wheel. Then the rest of the bike will want to spiral around the one that's still on the ground. I like that Trego fixed, except for the €499. about $592 USD, I hope the brakes are hydraulic and proportioned so you don't get lockup.

    Rear wheel axle

Not necessarily correct, as you can put the tabbed washer on the inside and regular washer anywhere it fits, but the tabbed washer usually faces up You want the axle to sit in the bottom of the slots on both sides too,

    Replacement Display

I have the above displays or something close to it. It's hard to see in daylight. I put a bezel around mine but I have to look directly at it. They are usually off by 1/2 volt, but are consistent, I got this one from China. It's handlebar mount, but I mounted on the downtube. It has an on/off...

    Winter Sucks

It;s going to get into the 40's (5-6C) next week, but no rain for 10 days, I would like to see some rain to wash the salt off our pavement and vehicles. It also clears off those pesky frozen patches in the shade. Expect to do some biking soon. I realized I spent much of January working on...

    Switch hub? Weird sound

The chart is pretty simple. It shows the controller wire on left, motor wires on right. I figured you aligned all the wires by thickness and color to start, Note that they never have to change the thin phase wires, which would involve pulling the pins out of the 2x6 plastic connector, All you...

Marion Iowa Considers Speed Limits for E-Bikes

There are some hard core cyclists that will ride streets near me with 45 mph traffic. Sure, when I'm in my car I wish they weren't there, but they have a right to use the road. And if you're in Mason City, IA, how you gonna get to Clear lake on a bike if they won't let you on ride on US 16.

    Switch hub? Weird sound

There is something wrong there. It looks like you have the separate three thick and five of six thin wires to the motor. Two or more are out of order. Did you follow the color scheme, matching colors on each wire thickness? While this has always worked for me, people talk about some motor makers...

    Controller question

The motor has three phases and Hall sensors, so you could spin it with any controller. The wires for the cadence sensor also come out. The KT controller would give you wacky speed readings. When coasting, it would use wheel sensor and wheel size. Should be correct there. Under power, you can...

Marion Iowa Considers Speed Limits for E-Bikes

You have a bigger problem in Iowa than a 15 mph limit. A new bill introduced in Iowa would only allow cars, trucks and motorcycles to use public roads. https://who13.com/news/new-bike-restrictions-proposed-in-iowa-drawing-strong-reactions/

Marion Iowa Considers Speed Limits for E-Bikes

We have no speed limits on our local trails, but the forest preserve trails in Chicago and the inner suburbs have a 15 mph limit for ALL bikes. I ride those paths twice a year, and it's no hardship, Most people are around that speed. Without a speedo, how would they know anyway, A few are...

Did I kill my mid drive controller?

Around 30 years ago, I had a battery powered Craftsman solder gun. I found it useful to keep in my car. Ran off a rechargeable battery, Would be handy today for when I was shaking down ebike builds. Often had a wire in the harness break, The technology was in the heating tip, When it burned...

    Winter Sucks

Tomorrow is Ground Hog Day. No matter what happens, it's only 7 weeks til the Spring Equinox. It seems like we just parked our bikes six weeks ago, just before the beginning of WInter. Batteries were fully charged in case the roads stayed dry (they didn't). We did get out on 1/13 for an...
