PEEK Gear for the Ultra Needed

See if you can find any tier 3 suppliers in aerospace with PEEK experience, that's where I've seen a lot of use. And while plastic processing is not my exact area of expertise, I don't think PEEK is hard to work with, maybe just different from other plastics. Great processability* – PEEK’s...

    Zen Samurai Diamond

Well I was finally able to give my new Samurai Diamond a proper ride. Starting off into a stiff 17 mph headwind, I headed downtown using the Sport mode along a paved bike trail. I was able to maintain about 20-22 mph while using about 50% of the battery to cover 12.5 miles. Heading home I...

Good luck traveling to Ashland. As a former Oregonian, I know out-of-the-way Ashland is. Almost the perfect 1/2 way point between Portland and Sacramento, or you fly into Eugene and leave yourself with almost a 3 hr drive.

    Zen Samurai Diamond

I always thought a Trek CrossRip+ with Gen 4 motor and power tube would make an amazing bike. Remove the rack and fenders, put on 32c tires, you have a poor man's Domane. Or keep the rack, fenders, and 38c tires and you got a fast and reliable commuter.

Any interest in committing to pre-launch price for a limited run hard tail superbike ? Round One Pricing added- through April 11th.

Thanks Pushkar. I know it is impossible to make one bike meet everyone's needs, but it seems like you have a great start on something that will work for a wide range of people.

What are you thinking for tires? Still the 27.5 x 2.4 Schwalbe Supermoto-X ?

I'm in as well. Love the idea of a more open platform alternative to the R&M's or Stromer's of the world.

    Best bafang ultra motor grease/oil?

Could be a nylon gear that was the cause. But depending on how you ride, it might be a bad idea to swap out your metal one due to durability issues with nylon. Again, just one possible cause.

Best bike for long distance touring?

Not really an expert either, but it looks like the Niner boost fork would be a great option to help convert the UCP into a Touring bike. "The rack mounts midway up the fork legs can support up to 55lbs for your out-there adventures." NINER BOOST RDO MTB FORK

Does suspension make street riding safer???

While I agree that if people have properly set up their high speed compression damping, a suspension system can offer some levels of safety. But how many people have done that (if their suspension even offers that adjustment)? If they haven't, they have just added more weight to their bike...

    reliability

Yes, cars cost more and are more expensive to operate, but a good car should easily last 150k miles. The OP was wanting to ride over 5k miles per year. I haven't seen much here (or anywhere) about high mileage e-bikes and the total cost of ownership. I think it would be valuable to collect and...

    reliability

It would be interesting to try and compare the cost and depreciation of an electric bike, similar to what we do with cars. Right now, the IRS has put that cost at $0.58/mile. For the OP, that would equate to spending about $3k per year (again cost + depreciation). Personally, I hope that e-bikes...

The ultimate Commuter - a tale of 2 very different bikes

Keep us posted about what you end up choosing. I am looking to make a very similar decision between the Commuter Pro and Allant+ 8s. Coming from a Domane and a hardtail 29er, getting the Commuter Pro setup with a more aggressive riding position is something I would be interested in learning more...

    Enviolo AUTOMATiQ

If automatic transmissions decrease the time I spend on maintenance, it will 100% add tangible value for me. Buttons fail, cables stretch, replacing a coin cell once a year sounds great to me.
