Ride Control App - displays Contact Dealer and then closes

There was a new update for the iOS app last week and that seems to connect without problems.

Ride Control App - displays Contact Dealer and then closes

You can find cable adapters from Lightning to mini-USB on Amazon. Here is the one I ordered. It's no longer available but there are lots of other options: Adapter for iPhone

    Ride Control Firmware

In the short-term, the Android is the only thing that seems to work to update the firmware. And even then, I needed to restart several times. @Giant -- you need to hire SOME REAL SOFTWARE ENGINEERS AND GET THIS SQUARED AWAY. Like it or not, software is now an integral part of your e-bikes and...

    Ride Control Firmware

Same problem for me. I really like having the light on by default. I wish it was configurable or that they would put it back the way it was.

How can you tell if your bike has 4 sensors or 6 sensors?

Ride Control App - displays Contact Dealer and then closes

Thanks for the Android idea. I had a very old Motorola Razr in the closet and it got the job done. But ugly - many restarts, questionable completions, removing the bike battery several times. But it did work in the end and then the iOS app started working again. And i'm thankful that i didn't...

2020 Giant E-Bike Models and Photos

Two comments after using my Explore E +1 for the last 6 months or so: 1). Very hard to average 32 km/hour with the Canadian version of the bike, with which the e-assist is limited to 32km. You get the e-assist up to 32 km/hour but not above, so unless you are going downhill or are a very strong...

2020 Giant E-Bike Models and Photos

One positive on the Range Extender is that you wouldn't need to carry the extra battery weight unless you needed it. My Giant Explore is heavy enough already.

2020 Giant E-Bike Models and Photos

According to the local Giant dealer, most riders don't use the full capacity today and they want to make the bikes lighter. Whether I believe that or not ...

Road Tires for EXPLORE E+ 1 GTS?

My tubes had a long stem. They's not aero wheels but they do need a little longer valve stem. I think I used 60 mm.

Road Tires for EXPLORE E+ 1 GTS?

The original tires used Kenda tubes. I used Schwalbe tubes for the new set and I have a slow leak in one for no apparent reason. Any name brand should be fine -- just make sure they are for the right width of tire. For example, mine fit 28-47 mm (e.g., touring tires). Cheers

2020 Giant E-Bike Models and Photos

I ducked into the local Giant store in Victoria, Canada yesterday. They had several of the 2020 models on display and said there would be 27 ebike models in total this year. Here are a couple of highlights. Sorry in advance for photo quality. I expect the details are on the Giant Canada website...

2020 GIANT Explore-E+ Maximum Range Expectations

FWIW - I weigh 175 lbs and get 50 miles (in imperial terms) on my 2019 Explore E+ 1. I mostly used the second assist level (Eco+). The lowest assist level is almost useless. I am quite fit and can ride almost the same speed on my road bike over flat ground. But add panniers + 20 lbs of groceries...

Mounting Abus Granit U-Lock on Giant Explore with Photos

I should also add that it's a Klickfix mount. If you google Abus + Klickfix you'll get a few options. The one I am using is called a TexKF. Here is a link to it on the Abus website: Abus TexKF Bracket There are also a few other Klickfix brackets from Abus. They klick into a bracket on the lock...

Pitlock Installation on Giant Explore with Photos

After looking at the options (all the options), I settled on Pitlocks and got the full set for my Giant. With Pitlocks on the wheels, headset and seatpost, I can safely lock the frame only without messing with extra cables etc. I would still not leave it in a high-crime area but I think it was a...

Mounting Abus Granit U-Lock on Giant Explore with Photos

I found a good way to mount my Abus Granit 540 U-Lock on the Giant after a lot of head scratching and trial & error. Does not get in the way of pedalling and easy to get on and off. The one trick was to rotate the Click-Fix collar on the lock itself. Hope someone finds this useful.
