Poll - Did you upgrade from Cadence Sensing to Torque Sensing?

If I’m honest with myself, I mostly use the throttle to accelerate from a standing position. Aside from out running an occasional dog, I never use it, but it’s a nice feature to have. I’m looking at a few ebikes that are meeting my criteria, however some of them do not have throttles.

Poll - Did you upgrade from Cadence Sensing to Torque Sensing?

I’m considering moving to a torque sensor ebike with my next purchase, however I have one question. If the sensor knows when you begin to move the pedal and immediately gives you pedal assist, is a throttle needed?

    Are my assumptions correct?

I agree and you make an excellent point on #1.

    Are my assumptions correct?

That would make my LBS guy happy as he sells Specialized. We have another LBS that recently opened and they sell Pedago. So that company is now on my list. I try to buy locally if I can, but sometimes the discount is just too great. After all, I think the LBS make more money on service than they...

Still considering changing from Rad Rover (and Rad)

WOW! Anyone else out there ever get in trouble for riding a class 3 or a bike with a throttle? No matter what bike I get, I’m gonna have a throttle. I pulled away from an angry dog one time because of my throttle.

Still considering changing from Rad Rover (and Rad)

I am very impressed with Ride1Up. My only question is that it is a class 3 ebike. It’s not an issue where I live. I’ve read where class 3s are prohibited on some paths. Not sure how they even enforce that (I have this image in my mind of Barney Fife handing out tickets). I just don’t want to...

Still considering changing from Rad Rover (and Rad)

Suggestions that I buy a ramp for my bike rack are not appreciated! Just kidding 😉. I had total knee replacement yesterday. My plan was to use my down time over the next few weeks to do research. Exploring ebikes is definitely more fun than looking at ramps. I’m probably going to buy the ramp...

    Are my assumptions correct?

I’m not a DIY guy to any great degree, but these last several posts and some of the tragic stories I’ve read about ebike accidents, I’m convinced that hydraulic brakes are the way to go. I’ve move them up towards the top of my priority list. If I buy a new bike or stay with my Rad Rover, I’ll...

    Are my assumptions correct?

You can use hydraulic calipers without hydraulic cables and brake fluid?

    Are my assumptions correct?

I recently threw out a post “Still considering changing from Rad Rover (and Rad)” and got some good feedback. However, in my pursuit to find a lighter ebike (something under 50 lbs), I’ve come to realize that it’s all about trade offs. So I am now trying to figure out what my highest priorities...

Still considering changing from Rad Rover (and Rad)

I guess suspension is not a high priority as I ride 80% on paved surfaces. If I’m going to make a change, I want it to be a lighter bike (something under 50 lbs), so yes weight is a high priority. I’m a little curious about belt driven e-bikes, but I have no issue with a traditional 7 speed...

Still considering changing from Rad Rover (and Rad)

I bought my first ebike six years ago thanks in part to EBR and helpful comments from many of you. I bought a Rad Rover and have been very pleased and last fall considered changing to a Rad City duse primarily to it’s “get up and go”. Well, life got in the way (shoulder replacement surgery) and...

Anyone interested in a ebike swap?

I have owned my Rad Rover since November of 2018 and have 2816 miles on it. The bike is in good shape as I do regular bike tune ups at my LBS. In the summer of 2021 I replaced the Kendas with Origin8 tires and put in Tannus Armour inserts. That same summer I had the more extensive bike tune-up...

Changing to a different Rad bike…good move?

I’m wondering if there is someone out there in the opposite position from me. Someone who has a Rad City and desires a Rad Rover? Would it be appropriate on this site to ask if someone wants to discuss a swap? If so, should I create a new thread?

Changing to a different Rad bike…good move?

Thanks everyone for the feedback! I was in Denver over the weekend and test rode several Rad models at their pop up location. I really like the direct drive motor and at this point think I’ll opt for the City 4 rather than the City Plus 5. Now, on to sell my Rad Rover…any suggestions?

Changing to a different Rad bike…good move?

I have owned my Rad Rover for approximately four years with a little over 3,000 miles on it. I generally like the bike very much. Recently I had the opportunity to ride a Rad City ebike and was pleasantly surprised with it’s “get up and go”. I’m now considering selling my Rad Rover and buying a...

Can 2019 Rad Rover rims be converted to tubeless?

Yup, after reading everything above, I think I’ll stick with tubes/slime and just get higher quality tires. Now my question is, what kind? I ride almost 65% on pavement and 35% gravel or crushed rock. Does anyone have any advice?

Can 2019 Rad Rover rims be converted to tubeless?

So Pay, what did you do? I just joined this thread, as I have the same problem as you and am considering going tubeless. After reading all the comments, I definitely will replace those Kenda tires. From what I have been reading, if I go tubeless with the Rad Rover, not only will I be buying new...
