I pretty sure it's latching. When I ride over rough terrain, the top clip can come loose and the cover can pop off the top peg. It doesn't happen every time, and most times the case is still connected on the bottom; it's just popped off the top. In bad cases the whole cover can drop off.

Is it safe/advisable to use neoprene covers year round? I have a Haibike that has a removable battery cover that tends to come loose and in some cases fall off. I was thinking one of these covers would easily secure it, but is there any harm in using one in warmer weather?

Ok, just got back from the bike store. They were able to update the firmware and they were able to enable walk assist mode. Just tried it out on the way home and used the feature to help walk the bike up some stairs. I guess if anyone else has this problem, ask the bike shop to turn it on.
