    BBS02 Build

After riding around with the Pelican case on the back; I quickly got tired of not being able to use the sides of my rack. Anything I wanted to haul had to be in a back pack. My solution was to remove the Pelican case and purchase a high quality waterproof set of panniers. They hold a LOT. I...

    BBS02 Build

Its been forever since I updated this, so here is the bike in it's nearly finished state. (I've got some lights that I need to install and will probably add a water bottle holder.) I'm going to add up everything that has gone into the build and tally it up in a minute.

    BBS02 Build

Just realized I never posted the finished build. Yesterday while riding I sheared an arm on the rear rack. Apparently I had too much weight to do jumps at 20+ mph. Bike is in the shop to get a new rack and kickstand. Will get pics posted once back on the road. After increasing my commuting...

    BBS02 Build

The bike build was "finished" over the weekend. After putting about 2 miles on it I decided there was no point in keeping the throttle. I took this off and replaced the grips (as I had already cut into the previous one.) Another five miles in and I sheared a screw that was holding on the...

    BBS02 Build

All of the parts from Em3ev come in tomorrow so its time to get the case mounted. I purchased a set of fifty fifty fenders for the front and back for $20 on Amazon. Had to make a pit stop for $5 worth of mounting hardware at the local store. Used pipe holders doubled up with washers and bolts to...

    Bike Motor Wattage

So in looking for the best e bike for my budget; I've seen a lot of crazy things around e bike wattage. One of the bikes recommended to me on this site lists a 500w rear hub motor, but upon further inspection the battery is 48v and the controller is 26a. At full throttle the bike is laying down...

Read it all and still clueless

To clarify and help narrow down the results: The legal max power is 750w for a bike to still be considered a bicycle. If you have that large of a hill and want to maintain a high speed; a mid drive motor is probably your best bet. To maintain high speed on serious hills, hub motors require a...

Best bike lock for a fat tire

Would not recommend locking a $1.5k+ bike with a $15 lock. Multiple people have shown it be cut and picked. Since you already have a U and chain, using a combination seems to be the safest bet for your situation. I carry an 11lb chain that gets run through the frame and both wheels with a mini u...

    Need some help/advice from experts

I would agree with the above. Are you riding a lot of hills? If so, get a mid drive. If it is mostly flats and you don't mind scrubbing speed on the few hills you do hit then go with a wheel hub motor. The legal limit for US road/paved path is 750w to be considered a bicycle. Any higher than...

    BBS02 Build

I purchased a 2013 Giant Talon 29er 1 with a rack as the donor bike for $300. (Deore derailleur, Alivio trigger shifters, Tektro hydraulic disc brakes). Unfortunately after mocking up a fake battery out of paper, I found the lower triangle is WAY too small to fit the battery. Since its hard to...

    BBS02 Build

Thank you so much! Any tips before I get started? I'm sure it'll be weeks before the parts arrive.

    BBS02 Build

I'm hoping to be able to ride anywhere I want without having to worry about the battery constantly. In the prodeco I was using 30wh/mile and I plan on going faster with the new bike. I'm guesstimating 40wh/m when I'm pushing hard. My prodeco doesn't have a triangle that would fit a battery.

Poll. Do you take your charger?

I did the exact same thing before deciding to go to a larger battery. A second charger isn't that much and saves the hassle/worry/weight.

    BBS02 Build

After spending a few months with a 2014 Prodecotech Phantom X2 in a very hilly area; I decided its time to get a bike with a rear rack and a mid drive. All of the options with the range and speed I wanted were way out of my price range. I spent a good bit of time comparing battery builders and...

    Hello from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada!

I'm guessing your comment is under review as you're a new member. (Either that or it's waiting on you to confirm your account.) Based on your response to the above, I think your Rad Power Rad City bike is the best option you have. With keeping away from a road/mtb frame, this has the best...

    Hello from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada!

Hi Rudy and welcome to the forum! What are you looking for in a bike? With that price point; you can get a lot more than you think. I am currently transitioning from a Prodecotech Phantom X2 to a BBS02 driven Giant build. Have spent the last few months trying different things and pricing about...

Mongoose 750w Mountain eBike - Atlanta, GA ($1,300 OBO)

It's a bummer they don't mention the manufacturer name or battery cell name, but you can always determine voltage and amp hour if they give you the volts/ah per cell. In the chart they show 3.7v/2ah in a 13x5 configuration. So 3.7x13 and 2x5 gives you 48.1v with 10ah :). Hope this helps when...

Mongoose 750w Mountain eBike - Atlanta, GA ($1,300 OBO)

Do you know which version of BBS02 it is? The battery per that link is 10ah not 12 btw. 2ah/cell. It would also be good to mention the battery is only rated to handle a draw of 20amps and the BBS02 can draw up to 25. You'd have to limit the motor in the controller to keep the battery from...

Mongoose 750w Mountain eBike - Atlanta, GA ($1,300 OBO)

What mid drive is in it? What are the specs on the battery? (Cells, BMS, etc) Where is it physically located? Details on brakes? (rotor size, type of brakes, brake sensor included?) Is there a shift sensor so you don't destroy the gears when shifting? How many teeth on the chainring?
