I am in the same situation and I am about to get a replacement for my broken MT4e brake lever to the S8.0, Yamaha system. Both the lever and the wire is damaged. (stupid wind blew the bike over). So, what is the conclusion of the opener/closer for the Yamaha system Haibikes? I understand this...

Lights on Haibike Trekking S 8.0 (and a lot of other stuff)

I just got a pair of Schwalbe Marathon Winter for my S 8.0. The size is 700x40 and they fit quite nicely under the fenders with ample clearance. I would not however ride in deep snow, that might pack the fenders full. Also notice the strip I used to secure the brake cable to the fork. That...

    Yamaha (Haibike) motor replacement

I know. See OP for thoughts about warranty vs time/worries. I did not contact the dealer because of this, even though EU buyer's legal rights are very strict. I went into this knowingly before I bought the bike. Warranty is not the issue, but supply/time. I am not a rich guy by any means, but I...

    Yamaha (Haibike) motor replacement

102% sure. I found out from hour1 how the engine thrives at a certain cadence/gear ratio. And I cannot stress this further: At any given cadence/gear I feel the engine fighting me at a 1:2 ratio when unpowered. The plum in the pudding is that I gain speed maintain speeds at the flats if I just roll.

    Yamaha (Haibike) motor replacement

I got a tip that the cranks might be overly tightened. I loosened them up a bit from the 40 something Nm that is stated in the service manual. ( I have no idea what the factory actually used of force to begin with). Things improved a bit. Normal ECO usage on flat roads is a bit more within...

    Yamaha (Haibike) motor replacement

So I have googling all over the net to find a replacement for my 500W s-pedelec motor, but it proved fruitless. The label on the motor says "Model X87". It is the standard unit of the Haibike Trekking S 8.0. Can someone please help me to find my way?

    Yamaha PW Drag

I have the same thing on my s-pedelec, both when powered off and when in ECO+ and ECO mode. It is a truly massive drag also, I have the stamina to pedal max 1km on flat surfaces that way and I am a fairly strong cyclist. NO, it is not the weight of the bicycle. Examples: -In both ECO modes: I...

    eBikers Dad Warned You About!

A week ago a guy was busted in Sweden for going about 100km/h through the city's main street on a 4000W bike. There will always be that specED wonder that ruins it for all.

Most of the nonsensical comments have come from perfect strangers though. I work at a silicon ingot factory (pre-fab solar cells) and my co-workers get the point

I have two non-electrics in my hallway, one racer and a cyclocross hybrid. Retail price $1400 and $1600. That racer was a waste of money due to the poor asfalt standards. (yes, non-electrics are really expensive too if one likes good brakes, gears etc)

Yes, that one. Was like 1973 here overseas. And nowadays with a gas prices of approx 17 NoK (almost $2 per liter) there really is no reason for me personally to commute to work by fossile fuel. -And as a bonus I do not show up to work with a fresh morning face, ready for a new day

I did not get that reference as an EU citizen, all I know is that 100% of my country's electricity supply in the spring, summer and autumn comes from hydro electric power plants. Quite a green way to travel

    Hilarious comments

In my one month as an e-bike owner I have had quite a few comments: Are you lazy? -Being asked from people that do not own a bike but a 200hp car Why not buy a motorcycle? Short answer: Noisy, smelly, way too many moving parts that break down, no health benefit Above answer: Health benefit? It...

    Squeeking Brakes

There could be some oily substance on the pads and/or disks. The most common answer to this is to rub the pads with some very fine sandpaper, but I prefer to replace them altogether as the problem may come back when the pads get hot.

6'4" Rider - What Bike to Buy?

I have a Haibike 2018 and i think the Trekking is a bit large by size convention. I am 173cm and the *small* size (52cm frame) is on the brink of being too large. The steering stem has 3 shims, and I had to rearrange the stem 2 shims down. -Compared to Merida bikes, their (Merida's) 52 cm frame...
