Just put a deposit down on an XM-700+

So got good news yesterday. And bought the bike. Took her for a ride, only 8 miles. (yeah, I am out of shape). It was a good ride, with the right amount of workout. One problem and one question: The front wheel makes noise. It sounds like the pad is just hitting the disc rotor. But, it...

Just put a deposit down on an XM-700+

I could have bought it out right, but wanted to wait until Tuesday to take delivery (I get the results of latest scan to verify the cancer remains gone; this will be 5 years). I chose the XM-700+ because it was the only one that fit me and felt like a real bike; I have a very long torso...

New to bikes - looking for lightweight and small frame

Edie, I am also in the DC area. I am looking at an eBike, but a bigger one (I am 6'2"), I have been focusing on Trek, because there is a dealer walking distance from my NoVA house (and right off the W O & D trail). I plan to buy the Trek XM700+ in a week or two; the delay is waiting for some...

I don't know, but if you find one, the speed will be ambiguous. :).

I am thinking of an ebike

So, I had the chance to ride a bunch of the E-bikes, mostly rear hub bikes. What impressed me is they felt reasonably balanced. Different from when I rode one 8 years ago. But, the bikes at this shop did not feel particularly robust. They were a bit cheaper than the TREK, and they felt it...

I am thinking of an ebike

I am thinking if I could average 16-18 mph, the 10 mile commute would be doable. It currently takes be between 25 and 50 minutes by car, so 35 min would be fine. I would not be very sweaty (and would have a clean shirt at work).

I am thinking of an ebike

One of the reasons why I am considering a Trek is there is a dealer for that about 1 mile from my house. I guess a question to ask them is how do they handle electric repairs -- can they do anything in house, or does it go out. (I assume the bicycle components are NBD).

I am thinking of an ebike

I had not thought about that problem (broken chain). Something to think of...

I am thinking of an ebike

I used to bike everywhere; in my mid to late 20's (while in grad school), I did not even have other transportation. I never had a particularly good bike, and typically limited myself to 10 miles from home. Fast forward 30 years: I still like biking, but my body is not in shape. I have...
