    Specialized Creo 2 owners

I've read several places that you may have to bleed hydraulic brakes after inverting them. Any truth to this?

What happened to that woman? I think she got arrested at least. How stupid and self-centered can you get?

Wonder if police would have legal grounds to arrest on assault (directly to the lungs). Meanwhile, I'd love to see nearby fans intervene. It's assault on them, too. I know, asking a lot of courage with all the crazies out there these days. But it'd sure be fun to watch the flare folks get...

Big hit to UAE if Vine and Soler are out for the TdF. If so, who will be Pogi's main helpers?

You don't need zoom or slow-mo to appreciate the energies the flying bikes are still carrying after they go down. And the riders are carrying ~10 times that when they hit the tarmac — or the cobbles, or the barrier, or the culvert, or the tree, or the rocky ravine below the road. Takes a lot of...

Wahoo ELEMNT Ace (on Specialized E-Bikes)

Pretty much my approach to navigation. Neighbors tell me that you can get through Pendleton by bike, largely on the old Pacific Highway through the base. But you'll need a gate pass in advance from their website, and even then you might get turned back on the day of. But neighbors also say...

    Just for fun...

Well, more ironic than fun... Just had our home repiped with thicker L-class copper to prevent the costly leaks more and more of our neighbors are getting with the neighborhood's original M-class copper piping from the late 1980s. Many holes in the walls and ceilings, as you'd imagine, but...

Wahoo ELEMNT Ace (on Specialized E-Bikes)

I use the ACE on my bars just for its GPS-based services like mapping, ground speed, elevation gain, gradient, etc. Also to display real-time heart rate and (just out of curiosity) air speed. And it's very good at all of that. Here's my custom ACE startup page. Haven't tried the turn-by-turn...

A little before the crash, the front of the peloton was clocked at 71 km/h. A little ramp just before slowed them to 60+ km/h. Can you imagine crashing at those speeds? Watch closely how some of the bikes fly up into the air and tumble and spin in the crash. That gives you a good idea of the...

Wahoo ELEMNT Ace (on Specialized E-Bikes)

Welcome aboard! Don't know about the Garmin, but my Wahoo ACE has good screen visibility in all lighting, including bright sun. To my surprise, the daytime visibility's a good bit better in light mode (white background) than in dark mode (black background).

    Street Registration Question

Kudos for trying to do the right thing with your e-moto. If you succeed in registering it, you plan to keep it in the car lanes and off bike infrastructure, right?

California tries to limit to 250 watt???

AB 1557 does one very important thing: It goes after manufacturers and dealers who sell emotos and other non-compliant bikes as legal ebikes. If we'd had the will and enforcement tools to do that from the outset, we probably wouldn't be in this crazy backlash mesh. AB 1557 also clarifies that...

    New from Colorado

Welcome aboard, @Jmisur ! Totally get that after 20 good years in the Denver Metro area. As long-time Californians before that, we had only 3 gripes about Colorado: 1. No ocean (though some pretty nice mountains to take some of the sting out of it). 2. Too much gravity. 3. Not enough...

I forgot I remembered You know you're having a senior moment when you hear these words pass your lips. Dust with a chance of falling wallboard was the indoor forecast as the workmen started repiping our house yesterday morning. So I quickly stuffed my sunglasses in the nearest drawer. Hours...

OK, their evil scheme is working. I'm STOKED! I think there should be a brief exhibition stage where all the riders wear traditional Bulgarian garb.

Not many swimmers out in the chilly breeze that day. But folks do swim and surf at the Carlsbad beaches shown on a regular basis. We have rips here and there — especially during high surf event's and storms. And tidal currents can get dangerous around lagoon mouths. Otherwise, the water's...

Thanks! I got lucky. Pelicans are my favorite birds now. However awkward they might look on foot, they're utter grace and efficiency on the wing — aviators extraordinaire. Since they're often after the lift from the cliff-face updrafts, close flybys like this are pretty common along the bluffs...

Gorgeous! I remember massive thunderheads like that from our Denver days. Always spectacular, even without that amazing lighting! The thunderheads we get occasionally in coastal SoCal are puny by comparison. Our atmosphere's generally as stable as yours is unstable.

A short but magical coast ride Yesterday afternoon's absolutely magnificent 13.5 mi Coast Highway ride featured temps in the upper 60s, a chilly onshore breeze, and the clearest air and most vivid scenery colors I've seen in our 4 years here. The photos below have only been resized. They don't...
